Bristol City are home on the Saturday so what chances this game would be moved to the Sunday again...
But that's about the only complaint in this. Can't say we've had dull draws in this competition, just hope we do the business tomorrow. Being the FA Trophy I'm a bit apprehensive.

I don't think that's a good draw at all. I'd much rather we had drawn a 'weaker' side with more chance of progressing

If anyone needs reminding of the attitude of some fans of league clubs relegated to the conference, take a look at this...

Rovers tend to go in for Friday evenings don't they?

Like East Thurrock! Seriously though, as our record in the Trophy is so abysmal, it's not worth getting excited about this draw until after tomorrow's replay.

I've long given up on us ever having a good run in the FA Trophy. If we're going to lose do it in front of a huge crowd, make some money from that, gain a bit of interest amongst our supporters etc.
Going by the East Thurrock debacle I'm happy to avoid a lower ranked side. And at least if Rovers stick seven past us I'll be back a lot quicker than that horrible afternoon.

Friday night would be rubbish - that's prime Christmas Party night and I bet loads of people wouldn't be able to make it!
Yes it is mine, but in Bristol so I'd just go after...
CAVEAT - this is all depending on tomorrow of course.

Yes, of course it depends on tomorrow. The supporters of both clubs have something big to look forward to and will expect their players to deliver after such a dreadful spectacle yesterday. After watching our team fail to lift themselves in FOUR games now after receiving draws which should have seen us progress at the 1st opportunity, perhaps our players will react positively should they get the chance to face Rovers.

Re: Bristol Rovers away!
I agree with Martin. Its a big incentive.
We need the cash!
Even if you assume a 5000 crowd paying a tenner each that's got to be £15/£20k for us????
That could keep our squad together for a bit.........
And in the Cup who knows.....

Re: Bristol Rovers away!
At standard admission prices it sounds like Rovers fans may not attend in the numbers they usually do; the prices can be varied if both clubs agree, I would suggest dropping them to our levels if not less.

I worked on 5000 paying £10 on average. Is it a 50;50 divi less expenses or only a third less expenses?

Even if you lose Neil, you can still come along to support us. I'm sure Bellend will look forward to meeting up again!

Re: Bristol Rovers away!
Interesting to see how Rovers fans react for this game whoever they play. Luton's big fan base pretty much halved for Trophy games even at discounted prices so they got around 2/3000 max. Hopefully the local derby nature would ensure a bigger gate than that.

And lets hope we take good numbers over too. 250+ surely?

We have to win the replay first Pete. Can't see us doing it given our ability to cock good things up at the moment.Peteboa wrote:And lets hope we take good numbers over too. 250+ surely?

Rovers are averaging just under 6000 this season but I would imagine they'd get about half that at most for a match against us or Gloucester in a competition that only appears to remind many of their supporters of their current non-league status. Maybe a few more for us with the connections between the clubs. However, even based on that you'd hope we could bank £8-10K even if we lost the game.
You would also think that Rovers wouldn't field anything close to a full-strength team so hopefully we'd have a fair chance of an upset.
I still expect a tight game tomorrow night as it is clearly as big an incentive for Gloucester as us. The thought of the game going to penalties doesn't really bear thinking about.

Oh, and if we do get through and it's moved to the Friday does anyone what to babysit as Jemma's on her work xmas party.

As I told you yesterday, it's high time you raised Charlie's profile at the club. Bring him along!

You'll only try to get him to join the Supporters Club committee.
