Your Lord's correspondent here. Considering the position they were in yesterday, Middx are playing this just right. The many tykes here are getting very frustrated as I think they assumed it would be over by now.

Excellent snail's pace scoring, last 10 overs was 15 runs, now last 10 /39, slow down, use up those overs.  Middlesex going for the win?

Local BBC news reporter at Lords didn't seem to have a clue and no way will Middlesex declare leaving Yorkies 35 overs to get 200, I would bet on Yorkies making that.

Must have been very entertaining for a non cricket follower to watch Somerset smash the ball around but scoring at Lords has been very slow so only we enthusiasts would have enjoyed that.  Personally, I must have a vested interest in anything to get emotionally involved.  I have waited 60+ years for a day like this, please fate   let Somerset be champions.

So, as an insider on the Lords staff,    what are the instructions for Middlesex batsmen as to the target?

There is a contrived finish Yorkies batsmen are bowling.

Middlesex scoring at 9 runs an over so expect c.250-270 off 36-38 overs?

240 in 40 looks a tad generous, though I guess Middx need the time to get the wkts.

Yorkshire don't need to take any real risks to chase down 6 an over.

The only way Middlesex were likely to get 10 wickets was set them 8-10 an over and have them take risks and get themselves out.

Middlesex could bowl 25 more overs before 5:30 (currently bowling @ 3 minutes per over Finn, so spinners even quicker).  So Yorkies have 43 overs, not 40, BUT if Middlesex don't take wickets when will they slow down the over rate?

Could the low sun intervene, like it did in the Test match when Dickie Bird was umpiring or perhaps shadows on the pitch causing bad light?  

Would need Bresnan out I think, he could see them home.
