Welton Rovers v City...again
Strong City line up with Batten, Straker, Artus, Brunt and Smith starting. Rigg on bench.

Watkins and Stearn are starting as well. As long as they don’t get injured is probably better than just training.

Lost on penalties.
But on the plus side, we avoid a needless trip to Taunton, it wasn’t as cold as expected and I got home before 10 o clock. Eight months or so without a SPC game. I can cope.

But Stearn suffered a very nasty injury.
I bet there will be a few players with cuts and bruises after that battle.

Jerry mentioned after it wasn’t as bad as they feared so have to see.
Wouldn’t overly say it was a battle, couple of challenges maybe but seen worse. We played with about as much intensity as I’d expect in such an inconvenient game. Good workout for lots of them.
We must have the worst record out of any club side in penalty shoot-outs. Surely something like 10 defeats in 11.

Re: Welton Rovers v City...again
That would be great if Stearn is not too bad. I really feared the worst for a tackle that could have ended his career.
Stearn was also the victim of some 'treatment' by their No7. Plus there was also some unnecessary 'afters' from the No6 on Tom Smith that so incensed me that the ref had to warn me.
Overall we thought there was a level of 'roughing up that wasn't evident in the first game. We thought then that Welton were a decent footballing side and we enjoyed watching them. Last night their approach was somewhat agricultural.
It got them the result they wanted but spoiled the evening for us.
I was surprised Jerry went with such a strong team. It was always likely to be risking injury.
