Apparently there were 150 from Welton, which is about double their usual home gate!

Certainly the biggest cheer of the night was for their goal. Including a green smoke bomb/flare.

Bigger than our home crowd vs Margate before Xmas, so fair play to those from Welton who boosted the figure, which is usually 150 tops.

Without meaning to sound arrogant, when I saw our starting line-up I expected a comfortable win, without thinking we'd notch up eight. Good confidence booster albeit against a stiffer test on Saturday and great attitude from the players. Spoke to Jerry afterwards and by the sounds of things some of them asked to play, likes of Compton etc.

Welton were a very youthful side with the consequences that a) there were an awful lot of family and friends in attendance and b) it was a very one sided affair. Rigg Compton Amankwah and Richards are used to a much higher standard and were very comfortable throughout. Buck and Ollis showed promise while Semenyo was given the chance to show what he is capable of. He has a very hard shot which takes some stopping. And Watto really enjoyed himself.
I felt sorry for Welton as it couldn't have been very nice constantly chasing after people rather than playing football. But their goal was a cracker. Took everyone by surprise including our young goalkeeper, who otherwise looked good especially with some of his distribution.

I think a few of them have dished it out before playing for the likes of GT/Kingsmead in the Bath & District League, occasionally at my expense, so it was unusual seeing them being on the receiving end.

They'll be fine in the remainder of the season.
