They've also just signed Matt Macey on loan as extra keeper cover. Born in Bath and I think played for our youth team a few years ago. He's now at Arsenal

Re: Ex Romans' Thread
I work with Matt Maceys dad and confirm that Matt played for the yoooof U12-14.
If you go onto the youth website, history section the last picture has Matt far right.
Matt moved to Rovers and it was from them that he joined Arsenal. He's sat on the bench a few times and was named in their Champions League squad but I don't think he's ever played for the first teams.
Last season he went out on short term loan to Accrington.
When we went to Dover in the trophy I got talking to a local behind the goal in the second half. He wasn't a Docer supporter just a guy with an interest. During which he advised his son was a goalie at Arsenal. He knew Matt as Matt and his son were vying for the number 3 or 4 spot. Small world.

The man responsible for one of my favourite City moments, Josh Low going in goal.

Do we now class him as an ex Roman? Fleetwood got a hat-trick against Basingstoke today.....

Did he ever play for us......Sorry, totally hacked off after a wasted day out at Weston sur le Bouie.Dusty Lynfield wrote:Do we now class him as an ex Roman? Fleetwood got a hat-trick against Basingstoke today.....
At least the pubs were good, and it was nice to meet the Italian Stallions. They were told off for smoking at a GWR station ......what happened during the glorious days of steam?

From the Chronicle...
Former loanee Tyler Harvey, who turned down a permanent offer from the Romans to sign for Truro, was not involved in the Hungerford loss for a trial at League 2 Hartlepool United.
The 21-year-old scored a penalty for their reserve side in a fixture against Mansfield on Tuesday.
Is Hartlepool even closer to his Devon home than Truro?

After seeing his present team today, I suspect he wishes he was not an ex Roman....

Re: Ex Romans' Thread
Went to Paulton today where they were playing Man U. Man U winning 2-0. They took their chances Paulton didn't.
Anyway on the side line The Kaiser, Grimshaw and Boris.
On the pitch for Man U Steve Phillips in goal, some wayward kicking first half and had some treatment on his thigh but dealt confidently with all crosses etc and one outstanding save. #6 for Man U Lewis Hogg. Solid and robust. He did try to 'mug' one of the opposition BUT amazingly escaped a booking or worse. I expect the ref couldn't face doing the paperwork.

Re: Ex Romans' Thread
We glory hunted and went to see Larkhall host the travelling masses of Hereford - and a jolly good job they did of it too.
City old boys included Mark Preece for Hereford, who looks like he could still do a good job at our level, and bossed the defence. Brad Williams was on the Bulls' bench, but never got a run out. Larkhall were captained by a stout looking Josh Egan, who's filled out a bit since he was a promising young lad at our place.
There was a proper cup tie atmosphere at the match, and the 625 paying customers witnessed a lively, if not slightly physical 2-2 draw.

I attended a funeral at Haycombe yesterday where it was mentioned that the deceased was an ex-City player from the 1950's - Stafford (Staff) Carey. Ex-City reserves player, 'Biff' was also there.
