Running away with the Southern League at the moment and we're dreadful at home. Plus I have to do a programme, gah. Hopefully they'll bring a decent away following to boost the crowd, otherwise it's a pretty poor draw.

Re: poole at home in the cup!
as always, it should be about the respective attitudes of the 2 teams. with home advantage and 'the best squad in adie's time at the club' we should win provided there is no complacency.

Hmmm, I imagine it will depend on how many of that 'best squad' are available.

Hopefully another 2 weeks will see some back.....hopefully Adelsbury, Slocombe and maybe Frankie? Plus will Patten be available for the FA Cup?

We're allowed seven subs in the FA Cup. If we want to fill that I guess we'll be having Friggy and Mark Bladwell sign on to make up the bench.

Re: poole at home in the cup!
After going down there on Saturday and seeing them despatch Bradford I'd say they are basically a good Conf South team with hefty resources and tall players. I think they'll beat us - maybe on a replay.
They had a good singing gang down there so I would expect them to make a day of it and bring at least 50-100.

I believe when we last played them in the FA Cup we beat them in a replay, going on to play Fulham?

Re: poole at home in the cup!
only the 3rd time we've drawn poole in the cup...
16/11/1929 16 Nov FA Cup 4Q Poole Town A W 4 1 n/a Gil Alsop 2, Chas Brittan, Bob Waite
24/10/1970 24 Oct FA Cup 3Q Poole Town A L 0 1
28/10/1989 28 Oct FA Cup 4Q Poole Town A D 2 2 1193 John Freegard, Own Goal
31/10/1989 31 Oct FA Cup 4Qr Poole Town H W 3 0 1232 Dave Palmer, John Freegard 2
That game in 1970 was one of the most feeble performances I can remember by us in the cup

Every chance we'll live down to that one then, given current form.

Hopefully it will be a game like Truro City or Bridgwater Town, where an unbeaten lower league side full of confidence suddenly finds that we are a tougher proposition than they are used to week in week out.

I'm assuming one side has received a bye following Salisbury's expulsion?

Re: poole at home in the cup!
I guess that depends if they entered the competition in the first place.
I vaguely recall someone saying they had but given the nonsense posted by real and pretend owners that probably didn't mean anything.
And for those following the saga down there the latest post by their owner is a comedy classic.

Re: poole at home in the cup!
I wasn't sure as there were only 79 ties, and no further clubs enter in the next stage so there would be an odd number, unless I'm just being daft.
I saw something about that. Utterly bizarre.

Re: poole at home in the cup!
You are correct. The draw on the FA website shows 79 ties and BYE – Flackwell Heath or Wantage Town.
Seems like someone managed to get one piece of admin done correctly at Salisbury.

Re: poole at home in the cup!
Would make sense then for the Wantage Town v Flackwell Heath replay to be postponed from tomorrow night until September 27th (2nd Qualifying Round date), as it is now effectively a 2nd Qualifying Round tie (given that the winners go straight into the 3rd Qualifying Round).

Although, to reply to my own post, they both have fixtures for that date, Wantage Town are away to Mangotsfield United in the Southern League South and West, and Flackwell Heath are away to Hook Norton in the Hellenic League Challenge Cup.

The last time I saw Poole was when Trowbridge Town were going for a record home score against them. How times have changed.

Lunch
Is lunch available for this game, if so,I intend to be there to eat at 1:30pm, anyone else?
From the September Insider - Pre-match meals:
We have now re-introduced pre-match meals for fans; great prices and menu. Food is served from 12 - 2.30 on match days, and all dishes are just £3.50.
Choice of Sausage, Scampi, Fried Chicken, Faggots or Pie, all served with chips.
There is already growing interest from Poole - talk of a mini bus, others who will travel independently and some have connections in Bath...in one case "stay with the old man" - so I am estimating at least 50 from them.
Is lunch promoted on visiting clubs' websites / fans forums / Facebook / Twitter etc?
For the Whitehawk game I only saw three diners, were there any for the Eastbourne game?
