Yeovil game
For those of you not on social media...the club has announced on it's Facebook page that the Yeovil game has been put back a day to 6th December. Our friends in green apparently approached us about this because their game at Wrexham is on the Sunday afternoon but we refused. They then went to the league about it, who of course agreed to the change.

No surprise there! Still, should we reach the NL this sort of thing will probably happen regularly as the tv company always comes first.

Re: Yeovil game
I booked some transport and accommodation for the Yeovil game. Fortunately I can shift a day but it’s not ideal.
Club sponsors, volunteers etc all have to shift a day as well.
On a personal level I have written to the NL to express my disappointment.

Not a criticism of you writing, but I hope it was an email as otherwise you will have wasted the price of a stamp on the NL.

Re: Yeovil game
Have City ever had someone on the National League Board of Directors? Currently the following clubs are represented:
Dagenham & Redbridge, Aldershot Town, Blyth Spartans Gateshead, Solihull Moors, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Hereford, Oldham Athletic, Chelmsford City and Chesterfield

Paul Williams would confirm but I don’t think so, James.
Whatever the personnel at the League, its intransigence is a given!

Bugger I've only just organised a meeting for 6th as I expected to be attending the game on 5th. So I'll miss it now.

Re: Yeovil game
It’s a great shame that loyal supporters are going to miss such an attractive match through no fault of their own. The same happened to me some years ago with the decision to televise the Dagenham replay causing it to be moved to the Wednesday evening. While I don’t blame either club, I do wish cup weeks were avoided when fixtures are rearranged. At least the FA made the sensible decision to do away with Trophy replays so next Tuesday’s Hemel match should go ahead.

I emailed.
Will probably fall on deaf ears but feel better registering my view.

Re: Yeovil game
This was Yeovil asking to change it. I think we said no but the league directed.

Although they have loaned us a rather good goalie for the season. Do we know if they have allowed him to play against them?

Will isn't allowed to play in the two Yeovil ties.
Unsure if that's a National League rule or a term of his loan contract, but playing against your parent club is forbidden in the PL, Football League and FA Cup so I wouldn't be surprised if it's a VNL rule too.

Cheers. Joe Raynes better get his gloves out then.

Of course the irony is that if we both go out of the Trophy tomorrow then Saturday 9th will be free...

I don't think it is ironic us winning and them losing - just nice.

Perhaps Sir Comrade would like to transfer some of the comments from Guess the Gate section to this thread?
As Wrexham, who played Sunday, are playing tonight, why couldn't Yeovil?

Stream was fine, crowd number was fantastic but felt we lacked the quality to create many chances. Cooke and Wilson having to battle in midfield for the ball. Relied on JT a lot, they doubled up on him and teams realising if they stop our crosses they stop our potent threat.

Seems to me Jerry left it late with the substitutions. It was very apparent 10 minutes into the 2nd half that we had run out of steam a bit.
Good game to watch, shame about the result

really enjoyed that. unlucky. deserved at least a point. never mind. i loved the atmosphere. tp was rocking. we really should be football league. a city with over 100000 population. russe my motm. thomas outstanding too. yeovil centre back were quality they needed to be too. looking forward to highlights. think elliot frear had our best 2 chances.

Re: Yeovil game
Despite them doubling up on JT he constantly got past them. The moment near the end when he 'sat' the defender on his backside was priceless. A non regular with me said he would watch City just to see JT play.

Re: Yeovil game
Agree about Russe - IMO will possibly turn out to be Jerry Gill's best signing for the Club - everything that we've been missing in midfield for several seasons.
The first half reminded me of that great first season in the Conference Premier - large crowd, away fans adding to the atmosphere (what a pity a few of their idiots overreacted following the goal - only happens with segregation) and some entertaining, skilful football.
A shame we couldn't convert those chances because in the second half Yeovil started to show why they'll probably win this league with several weeks to go.
The supporter I sat next to spent the first 30 minutes after the break wondering about substitutions and Facebook comments are all about Clark falling down the pecking order. Reminds me of the complaints about Stearney's treatment all those years ago.
Good interview with Jim Barron...
