Cheshunt thread
Coach coming down at £15 a head which is decent price.
Performances better than league position suggests, several new signings, a big physical side giving us a challenge that we usually have a problem in combatting.

Sounds like it could be a battle. Not what is wanted to retain those students. Although we seem to be pushing the beer aspect.

Much that the income is good, I don't agree with encouraging people to football based upon having a bar on the terrace. The club don't need any more mankini clad idiots jumping on the pitch.

The cheap beer is only pre 2.00. Presumably in the bar.
We only ever drink in the bar, post 2.00.

Re: Cheshunt thread
I recall a previous student day when there were several tables that were covered in full pints as the students had stocked up with supplies before the 2pm deadline for cheap pints. Fairly certain that some of the student drinkers then went elsewhere and not to the match.
The other problem these events create is that regular bar users are faced with longer than normal queues and some have chosen to use local pubs instead.

I personally think that the atmosphere has notably deteriorated since the bar arrived

It did occur to me that the problem with the bar is that it is outside the turnstiles so anyone can use it before the game.
But the stripes bar has been a resounding success financially which we all benefit from.

Has the outside bar had an effect on sales in Charlie’s?

A game where the result wss better than the performance. Cheshunt were completely lacking in confidence and were there for the taking but we made very hard work of it.
I wish the lads would just make sure their shots are on target. Make the goalie have to do something.
But three points nontheless.

Re: Cheshunt thread
Thought we lacked width particularly in the first half - Jones at left back doesn't look as happy going forward as Greenslade. Cheshunt looked like a side near the bottom of the table and I don't think Wright had a shot to save, but this is the kind of game that we have lost in the past, so happy with another three points on the board.

Re: Cheshunt thread
Cheshunt showed little endeavour going forward and were more than happy to set up 2 banks of five.
Unless we show real energy from the off, to pull that shape apart then our energy levels seem to drop as we try and pass our way through. Sad to say that we can barely string 3 or 4 attacking passes together to get into a shooting opportunity hence why we gave their keeper an easy day. That’s where having a Stearn type player to be greedy, run at the opposition, get them turning and create a little mayhem. It’s so frustrating that even when we get the ball in space with the opportunity to run into and exploit space we seem reluctant. Stop cut back, pass sideways but not forward. Cheshunt were there for the taking and yes we won but if it wasn’t for a pen would we have got the goal. Sometimes picking up 3 pts with a below par performance, well maybe that’s good enough.
