Who will we get in the Cup/Trophy 20/21 compo

As I have a family connection I say ‘how dare you!’

I switched off after the fourth mispronounced team in the northern section.

Well, one positive is I wasn't a million miles away with my prediction again. Can't think of many more.

Well we’re at home and avoided a top tier team so I consider that a good draw. If we could actually be there I’d even be excited by it.

I just find draws against divisional opponents so underwhelming, particularly when you’re playing them again in a few weeks. If we played a team in the league above the pressure would be off at least.

In our last four games at this stage we’ve played two divisional opponents, one league above and some Essex lot from the league below.

Could have been worse but could have been far better.

I was just pleased we didn't get drawn away to Leiston which is some way the other side of Ipswich. Agree with Martin it would be more exciting if we could actually go to the game.

I think it as good a chance as we could hope for being at home. Obviously Havant will fancy their chances as well but if we get our strikers on the pitch we should be optimistic.

I recall that prior to the last round Luton Roman intimated that the FA was reconsidering whether or not to allow fans into grounds at our level for FA Cup games.....I guess that has all gone out the window now?

I am sure they will use the rising level of infections to keep it as it is, although apparently this doesn’t stop you from going to the theatre. At the same time as we will be playing Havant & W behind closed doors you can go to the Theatre Royal to watch a play with 300 others, and I am sure I have read that the Royal Albert Hall is planning an event with over 3000.

The only argument I’ve heard from the Government against fans returning to football is not the problem of social distancing inside grounds but the crowding on public transport to travel to and from the match. Of course that is an issue for a Premier League fixture in London as it will be for those going to the RAH. But that argument can’t apply to Concord v Chipp. It all comes back to this elite label...

That’s strange, I was sure they said the virus was less contagious in outdoor settings as opposed to indoor settings. Anyway, ta for the £10M. Are they keeping it to give out in the club’s Christmas stockings?

I expect the league is putting the £10million in the same place as they put the balance of the £200k they got from the PL to help with the playoffs after they had generously given the clubs involved £4k each!

Last club to receive a bye in the 4th Qualifying Round before Chorley this year was.....us in 1931/32.

Why?

Not even the good book tells us, but after wins over Nunhead and Crystal Palace, we lost to Brentford in the 3rd Round.

This stat appeared on the superb FA Cup Factfile account on Twitter, with the explanation:

“It was to do with the original Newport County.

They had been relegated to Southern League at end of 1930/31 season and chose not to enter the #FACup in 1931/32 (I believe they were also being investigated for financial irregularities at the time)”

The bad news for Ashley is that this compo is not over despite yesterday's disappointing result. The round before we enter the Trophy is played on 14 November so you can make your predictions from that evening. See you there!

So this compo will restart on evening of 8/12 following the 1st Round ties.

Presumably (and I know you shouldn’t assume anything with the F A!) this could mean that the draws for the 2nd and 3rd Rounds will be made at the same time, as surely they wouldn’t wait until after the 15th to tell teams where they are playing on the 19th. Then again...

Also, didn’t we rearrange the game at Dorking for the 15th?

As I said on the other thread, the Dorking site says we’re going there on 5/12.

Good point about a double draw - I trust the FA will keep me in the loop.
