Re: Play offs are
Whilst I said I thought we would raise the £17k I never said it would be easy.
Worrying that people are digging ditches over this. Surely we are all City fans and we want to see our team play. We also want it to go on for many years. Surely we can find a rational way to agree a 3 year plan which says no debt - Whatever level we play at.
My energy will go into backing the Club I have supported for many years.
Let’s all pull together now.
And why not enjoy the game in very difficult times. We probably all need a bit of a lift.

Let’s all pull together now. Like in a tug of war?

Of course those urging caution do support the club just as much as those with rose tinted spectacles.

Re: Play offs are
I understand that the fundraiser is due to launch imminently.
While taking on board of the concerns that people on this thread (including me) have raised, I do agree with Pete Mac that we now need to focus on making sure supporters are able to raise the £17-35K that the club must now raise. There will be a time down the line to reflect on how we might do things better as a Club/Society when it comes to these big decisions, but in the coming weeks we have to pull together and look at the situation constructively.

Re: Play offs are
In under a day it has already raised just over £12k, which is mind-blowing. Amazing generosity.

Agreed, a quite incredible response. Well done to everyone who has already donated and of course to the hard work and creativity of those who have set this up in just a few days.

Impressive.
I have to say the crowdfunding page is clear and the ideas well presented.

Past the £30k mark with former favourite Jon Holloway among the donations.

Re: Play offs are
As one who was doubtful about the whole play-offs I have to say that the repsonse of City fans has been incredible.
And I think great credit has to go to the club for how - in such a short space of time - they came up with a such a great fund raising scheme where, rather than just asking for money, you actually get something for all donations over £25. The flags at the ground will look great and giving back to the NHS as well was inspired.
Compare this to Weymouth's scheme which appears to have stalled around £12K.

And Slough's is just under £8k v. 25k target after a week. Our effort is truly remarkable and a testament to the community and commercial improvements made in recent times, the hard work of those involved, and also the response to reaching out to other clubs such as Bristol Rovers, Bristol City, Cheltenham, Birmingham, and other clubs fans who have come on board. Really humbling.

Re: Play offs are
Apparently the Premier League is giving £200k to the National League to "help prepare for and deliver the play-offs". Will be interesting to see how much if any filters its way down to North and South.

2weirdtown wrote:I agree a match played behind closed doors will be no fun. It's not as if we can watch it together anywhere. We're talking about a spectator sport here and if the manager/players think the club lacks ambition if not participating in these play offs then their priorities are wrong for me.
The potential for these games happening in these circumstances has been known for what, 3 months now, yet there seems to be nothing concrete known about how this will play out.
They say that what keeps football fans supporting their club through thick and thin is the dream of seeing some success now and again.
The possibility of 1,000 odd people stumping up to connect to watch this game in the present circumstances is to me beyond dreams and into pure fantasy.
Happy to be proved wrong and I would still stump up out of loyalty even though I'm agin' it and will be down on the beach.
I'm a very happy man!

Re: Play offs are
This may sound negative but..... if we are not gonna win the playoff final are we now better off losing against Dorking and therefore banking the leftover crowdfunding money. It’ll save on costs with just one game..... just a bizarre thought.

Re: Play offs are
A couple of posters on the Weymouth forum are saying they fear Dorking more than us and reckon they will be too streetwise for City. Hah!

Not intending to put a damper on proceedings but what happens if one of the play-off teams have a player(s) with a positive virus test?

Odds show Havant favourites, we are 7/1, Dartford 9/1, Dorking 16/1.

Re: Play offs are
I believe Weymouth rated above us at 17/8. Surprising considering the 2 drawn games and they have now lost top scorer Baggie. Any City player news? Any progress with Batten? Raynes?

Batten and Raynes are not being considered for the playoffs.

Re: Play offs are
NLP today indicates all NLS will be streamed and kick off times possibly adjusted. I guess perhaps 2pm and 4.30pm instead of both at 3pm. There is no extra time to get in the way

Yes I picked up this a.m . On a non league podcast that the games would be streamed. Great news!

Re: Play offs are
It might be pay per view though so The Club might have to do some fancy footwork. 440 ish due to get live stream as a reward- but that would be less than circa £5k and some of that would come back to the Club. Messy though
