Boreham Wood - the end?
Interesting interview with their chairman who seems at his wits end about their low attendances and reflects on all the money he has invested on and off the pitch.

Bear in mind that they could, and probably should, have been in League 2 by now with Tranmere down to 10 men within about 5 minutes of the start of the play-off final in 2018. From the point of view of other clubs in that division this is a real financial issue when you consider that Tranmere would probably bring 500 supporters to an away match whereas BW would struggle to fill a mini-bus. It's a similar scenario to North Ferriby which has been discussed on another thread - a club propelled into a fairly high level of football, not by organic growth but by outside funding, and which will crash the instant that funding disappears.

They don’t help themselves. Banning the local media and making visiting press people pay their entrance fee will result in negative publicity. It’s a pathetic, stubborn stance and they need to correct it.
Was something about the place I wasn’t keen on for some reason. Just didn’t seem too welcoming. Been to far worse at this level but I wasn’t disappointed when they won promotion. I can remember Dan Ball getting really agitated after one game there, think someone made some really snide comments after he was fouled and looked like he’d landed awkwardly. Haven’t seen him bite in the other 250 games he’s played so must have been bad.

I wonder if there is some local antipathy towards the club due to their Arsenal connection? Or possibly the chairman's conviction for assaulting 3 women in a restaurant in 2007?

Have to question his financial abilities. He says the £99 season ticket works out at just over £3 per game. How many games do they play at the next level up......31 or 32 ?
