Lost 1-0 to a goal just after half time. Entertaining game, both teams had a few chances and played some decent football. Decent crowd too of 266.

Frankie Artus official MoM - which I agreed with.
Exeter are a smart looking outfit, who we gave a 'run for their money'

I spoke to an Exeter coach after the game and he thought we have a strong squad.

Joe Raines did very well at right back.

Joe Raynes signed on 12 month contract so JG says in post match interview.

First game I have seen. Nothing much between the 2 teams although we rarely looked like scoring. Raynes looked good so pleased he has signed. Brunt looked as though he could be a handful in Conf South if he can stay fit.

Raynes was a bigger lad than I expected which was a pleasant surprise, and I echo the comments saying he looked good. With Brunt & Cundy added to Jack Batten we looked a bigger side than at times last year, which can only bode well for the annual teams from the East who bring teams of 6'4'' monsters.

For my one and only preseason, reasonably happy, roll on the proper stuff.

I think he is referring to their girth as well as height. Some of them you need a ticket for a tour round them.

I remember the Tony Ricketts team of the early 90s, now that was a physically strong and streetwise team, hopefully we are developing something similar again.

His dad's played drums with me on occasion and he is a big lad as well - typical drummer's build.
