New signing
According to Twitter we have signed Sean Rigg until the end of next season - he apparently had his contract with Newport cancelled 'by mutual consent' over the weekend. I am pretty sure we tried to get him on loan a few years ago when he was a Rovers player. I also think he might be George's cousin.

This is the South Wales Argus' take on his release by Newport.

Re: New signing
Wikipedia says he prefers to play as a striker though his goal scoring record is definitely more that of a midfielder!

Will this give Smith the chance of playing higher up the pitch?

He was the victim of that hatchet job by the Barrow player several years ago.

Re: New signing
A good player and sorry to see him go. Didn't appear to fit into the manager's plans and the writing seemed to be on the wall as soon as Josh Sheehan was signed from Swansea (very similar style players).
I believe he could still have done a decent job at League 2 level and hope he does well for you.

I'd go one stage further than that and say that, in my opinion, he is better than some of the players we have in our first team currently. Our manager appears to have had some sort of issue with him for whatever reason and as a result he's ended up leaving. He should absolutely clean up at Connie South level - I'm amazed he has dropped down two divisions.

My brother, who is a Wimbledon supporter, says "Excellent signing. Always liked him for Wimbledon."

Re: New signing
More news on reasons for Rigg coming to us / leaving County....looks like their manager has tried to kill some of the rumours amongst their fans of a conspiracy to get rid of him. Looking forward to getting a look at him.

Re: New signing
This story on the BBC News website explains it a little more. And we almost get a mention, too...

Re: New signing
Rob, you should know by now that the guy in the Welsh FA has got 101 things to do before he gets round to this. Odds on us seeing Sean Rigg play at Braintree - long.

Re: New signing
I was going to say that we've got a lot on but we haven't really. A couple of glorified friendlies and the containing the underwhelmed nature of the reception to Giggs being named national manager.

Re: New signing
He came on late in the game today and looked to attack and shoot at every opportunity. Too early to determine his contribution to the team, but a positive start.
