Hayes away (April 1997) Empty Hayes away (April 1997)

Bit of a long shot but I don't suppose anyone has anything like a match report for this game in any scrapbooks anywhere? Hoping to write a "Back in time" page for the programme by Wednesday.

We won 1-0, Graham Colbourne scored early on, Stuart James was sent off and Hayes had about 1000 chances to equalise but didn't. Pitch invasion at the end and all that.

Remember it well, Hervin saves, Colbourne winner, endured endless pressure, what a game - afraid no report to hand though. Chronicle archives?

Yes, that was a similar game apart from Farnborough did equalise. Suppose it's quite ironic that we play them at home next.

I'm sure after Hayes we found out a load of the other teams around us won anyway. Ended up going down on 47 points which, for a 42 game season, wasn't that bad.

I'll keep researching, if I can't find anything I'll have to come up with something else.

Hervin's the hero as City stay in the hunt
HAYES 0 BATH CITY 1
Hayes : Meara 6 Brady 7 Duncan 6 Kelly 7 Cox 7 Goodiffe 7 Francis 6 Hall 6 Randall 7 Roberts 8 Wilkinson 6 SUBS Williams 58 Bartley 80
Bath City : Hervin 9 Hedges 8 French 7 Brooks 8 Harrington 7 James 6 Towler 8 Colbourne 8 Mehew 7 Davis 7 Wyatt 7 SUBS Paul 70 Hirons 89
Referee K Hill
Attendance 1183
Shots : Hayes 13 City 4
Corners : Hates 10 City 3
Bookings : Towler 16 Goodiffe 31 Randall 53 Brady 57 James 67 & 68 Wyatt 75 Hervin 81
Goal : Colbourne 12
Hervin pulled off several premiership class saves to deny the equaliser in a one sided second half after Bath had equalled their opponents in the first. Colbourne's early strike was resolutely defended for a first double of the season and 3 wins in a row kept survival hopes alive leading to a pitch invasion at the final whistle after SEVEN minutes injury time.
Taken from the Chronicle report.

That's excellent, many thanks.

And the Roberts for Hayes is Jason Roberts, recently retired striker.
