Rearranged Margate date
Ignoring the fact that this would be off if Margate beat FGR on Saturday and then draw their first round tie, I'm surprised the two clubs didn't wait until after the first round of the trophy. If we both lose, we could then have gone to Margate on the blank Saturday for the second round. All ifs and buts, I know, but the prospect of a 400 mile midweek round trip could have been avoided if we hadn't been scheduled to go there on a cup day. Apparently clubs can request their holiday opponents - presumably this doesn't extend to who you want either end of the season.

I don't understand this. Do we have a say when it is rearranged for or is it foisted upon us? Why would we agree to a journey like that for players and supporters on a Tuesday?

Re: Rearranged Margate date
It is my understanding that the fixture has to be arranged within a certain timeframe and played within a certain number of days after the original date.
Annoying with the possibility that it could be postponed last minute again.

Re: Rearranged Margate date
I think it is 42 days which would rule out waiting to see if we both go out of the Trophy.
Maybe they have chosen this date as if Margate are involved in a Cup replay it would make this option a possibility.

Re: Rearranged Margate date
Yes, I'm sure such rearrangements are a nightmare for clubs to organise and the 42 days rule does make sense. Remember that season when we were chasing Bost*n for the title - we had several games to reschedule and for some reason they were all crammed into March and did for our chances. As I said above, this problem has been caused by the fixtures secretary - a simple scanning of league games fixed for early rounds of the cup/trophy would highlight any pairings of far apart clubs.

That season we were chasing Boston saw us play Crawley in April after it was originally scheduled for September.

As he managed both clubs, Steve Evans must have been to blame.

I'm sure he's too busy telling the Leeds players to throw all their medals in the biggest flippin' dustbin they can find to worry...

FGR's victory today confirms we are going to Margate that evening.
And Basingstoke's thumping of Torquay underlines the task facing Kevin Nicholson. Bad luck Chipp...

Presumably it was the first time he'd watched them from the dugout as he was cup tied.
