Re: A great story from Czech Republic
Me and some Welsh and Czech friends of mine played at that stadium in 2005. We based it around a Wales qualifier away in Vienna and took a train there after. A couple of months before the game, our mate who lived over there said "Oh, I've hired the pitch" and sent me a link to pictures of Stadion Za Lužánkami.
The story of our game is here and, rather more interestingly, here are the photos of the stadium and some more at the end of here.

Great stuff, Marc. One day I'll tell you how I nearly got arrested when looking for Dukla Prague's ground.

Did you get the all important away kit as coveted by Half Man Half Biscuit?

No, just a nice metal badge. Czech club football is in a pretty poor state but it's good to see the national team are on the way back.

Interestingly, the attendances started going down when Brno left Stadion Za Lužánkami.

Following that article, Guardian readers were invited to send in their photos of abandoned stadia. They include four which we have played at...

I've been to that one in Havana. It's not actually abandoned. They still use it - it just looks like that!

True enough, most of Havana looks abandoned.
