Shaggy Dog Story
I'm not happy about this at all - I hope the fire brigade asked first, and that we can get compensation from someone!

Neither was the reporter going by the capitalisations of DOG. Almost in disbelief.
Department I used to work in included a few dog obsessives. They'd be straight around the Chron offices protesting.

I assumed when I saw the headline that Bladud's gruesome secret about where he had hidden Spytty had come to light...

Agree with Manchester Roman - don't see why the club should have to pay out for this and presumably that part of the ground will be out of use for a while.

Re: Shaggy Dog Story
To the best of my knowledge, there will be a claim against the dog owners Home Insurance (public liability) in the same way as if the dog had bitten a child, etc!

Re: Shaggy Dog Story
Of course this assumes the owner has any form of insurance (home or pet ).
I thought that nowadays people dispensed with insurance and when something untoward occurred set up a crowdfunding/just giving account.
Perhaps our claim for costs is against the fire service who then have the problem of chasing the dog's owner.

I would be surprised if there is any insurance for the club to claim against. It seems to me that these days in this sort of situation the more likely outcome is the dogs owners end up suing the club for the distressed caused to them through the club having an "unsafe ground".

How did the dog get into the ground? The gates are pretty secure.

The report says that it got in through "a gap under the concrete structure" so probably didn't matter about the gates.
From what others have said it sounds like we could be barking up the wrong tree if we expect the owners to pay for the damage.

Re: Shaggy Dog Story
Just a shame that two certain members of the management/coaching set up hadn't found this way of disappearing a few years back.
Perhaps we could have just filled in the cracks instead of making a big hole to release them.
Only joking
