Worthing Game
We looked ok in patches tonight. But that was it. One shot on target, a weak effort by Wilson. They had more intent to win the game.
New loaner looks lively, but then compared to Wilson and saucepan looks energetic.

Re: Worthing Game
I thought we had a good formation with Humphrew-Ewers in the sweeper role, and we had more grit about us but we hardly laid a glove on them. Tilson and Russe were chasing shadows all game so we had very little connection between midfield and the strikers again.
Worthing were always in control.

Re: Worthing Game
That was certainly an improvement on our last three outings which was just as well as when they concentrated on going forward, rather than their boring Man City impression, Worthing looked a very decent team. And yet if we had a cutting edge we could have earnt at least a point. The manager has a hell of a problem to solve re the lack of goals.

Re: Worthing Game
I can't see us creating much until Clark and Frear are back. Painful times for us. Raynes whipped in a delicious cross 2nd half and I think it was Sol Wanjau Smith who skied it. New bloke looked fast. He really should have timed his run better though as he was through on goal before getting flagged. Could have got a draw but sensed they were more likely to get a winner in last 20 as we sat back after Wilson went off. Didn't look over 1000 fans today but that was incredible attendance yet again. Just seen we will have had 5 Tuesday games at home before Christmas. Crazy.

Yes, a pleasing attendance boosted by a good turnout from Sussex. A pity we’re no longer invited to applaud visiting fans - I understand it was down to supporters not wanting to clap the likes of Yeovil’s and Torquay’s unruly element which is fair enough but most visitors are fine.

We had a shot on target?! I've been waiting for this moment! granted i've probably seen the worst games out of the few i've been to of late. Tends to improve your chances of winning games from what I've heard. Was it a proper shot on target? as in, struck with a bit of power and purpose and the keeper had to make a save rather than a n0b end from a half arsed cross?
ps. why is the forum so quiet nowadays? have banning orders been given to those who dare to criticise the manager?
*edit, just noticed you said "one shot on target, a weak effort by Wilson! Oh well. That purposeful shot is coming, and mosh pits will ensue.... UTC

I can't see it changing substantially with Clark and Freer back as we were shot shy when they were fit. The players know they aren't going to get many chances and are snatching at them/mistiming when one comes along. We had a couple of good headed chances and again the goalie wasn't tested.
As Martin says it is a tough fix.

For a while after Jim Barron joined we had seemed to drop the pass back and around till we lose the ball approach. It has crept back in and I've said before the opposition scouts must all say press Bath City they'll end up back by their own penalty box.
Am finding the matches incredibly tedious.

A glass tankard. Hopefully I’m not using it to drown my sorrows come the end of season!

Well deserved Martin, although a pretty poor presentation.
Couldn't hear a word he said (never can) and hadn't a clue who was actually receiving something.
From a distance I could see a shiny head on someone tall, so thought it could be you
But well done Martin on everything apart from the Halesowen Marathon Walk

Re: Worthing Game
Yes clapping to away fans was decent. We clapped them and they appreciated it and clapped back. A nice touch. Why did that stop. I feel Clark our only real attacking threat and Frear puts in decent crosses. Otherwise it's going to be laboured slim victories if we win. The Worthing manager was giving the ref a grilling on his interview. They won 2 0 as well. What a idiot risking a fine after winning 2 - 0. As for Cashman he went down a lot after what seamed fair tackles. SWS divided ridiculously too after what was the softest shove I've ever seen.

Re: Worthing Game
The applauding of away fans was the norm in the NL where because of segregation they announce the number of visitors and the crowd responds. It happened at the Aldershot cup game. At a time when the Club's finances are being widely discussed, it's worth remembering the extra income gained from away fans at the gate and bars.
I agree about SWS - he looks to have a lot of potential and is our biggest goal threat but seems too intent on winning free kicks. I have the same complaint with Clark.

Re: Worthing Game
SWS and Clark get fouled a lot, but do tend to go down when they lose the ball. I suppose you could say the ref plays advantage when they manage to retain possession but is forced to intervene when their progress is halted.
