Weymouth tonight
I rarely post these days but that was poor tonight.
We came out second half and had a really good 15 mins but apart from that it was a quiet night at Twerton.
Stuck too close to the bottom 4 for my liking.

Re: Weymouth tonight
I have one word to sum up the performance - disappointing.
We look like a side that is going to struggle to stay up.

Poor doesn't cover it.
Nine years of mediocre football, summed up in tonight's game. No urgency against a pi$$ poor Weymouth team.

We were not helped by a very incinsistent ref. in terms of how he dealt with what I thought were equivalent fails and yellow cards.

Re: Weymouth tonight
Blaming the officials is as pointless as continually blaming our position on the injuries which most teams suffer over a season. Agree with Digger about Weymouth who could ping the ball around with ease but their final ball was continually atrocious. Unfortunately a team who continually fail to score that second killer goal are always at risk of dropping points.

Martin, read what I wrote.
I did not disagree with what had been said.
I wrote "We were not helped".

The ref made absolutely no difference to how poorly we played.

Re: Weymouth tonight
One positive for me was the second half performance by Grimes. How refreshing to see a wide player put over some accurate crosses at the earliest opportunity rather than faffing about on the ball. Not sure if playing him there and Jack in the middle strengthens us defensively but he certainly provides an attacking alternative.

Re: Weymouth tonight
I blame the ref. He had a mare. Any other ref we'd have won 4 0. Totally agree with Colin. Delightful 1368 attendance With few Weymouth fans. Our low scoring season and the
attendances still are fantastic. What are
everyone's expectations in our 24 team league. Our 4 exciting forward players from last season,
2 have gone and 2 are injured. Anyway the ref
ruined 1368 City fans night. I hope Gill gets some money from the pledge thing. We definitely need a winger or forward with Clark out. Even Farnborough offered Richard Chin more than we could offer. I'm sure some of these teams are going to go bankrupt. Then the debt gets wrote of and they get relegated to the bottom of the pyramid and reform and fly up the leagues again. Remember don't blame the injuries, blame the ref.

Re: Weymouth tonight
If I see one more of our free kicks in the opposition half being passed around to end up with our keeper I'll......

Passionate and loyal as always, WSP, but how did the ref ruin our night and prevent us winning 4-0?

Having Jack at the back frees up Alex Fisher for the more forward role, in the first half he was tracking back constantly to provide height. Fisher has obviously worked really hard on his fitness but we need him up front. Grimes was excellent.

Re: Weymouth tonight
I'm surprised at the praise for Grimes. I thought he saw a lot of the ball in space but did absolutely nothing with it. But it was his best game so far.
Alvez and Wanjau-Smith looked like they had no idea what they were supposed to be doing.

Surprised too about the comments regarding the ref. I don't understand how he caused our team to be so disjointed.
And did we even have four shots on goal?

Thought the referee was very good, personally. Got all the big decisions right, especially the 'handball' at the end, it was Alves who handled it.

Would really love to know where these 3 other goals were coming from last night?

Re: Weymouth tonight
No I don't blame the ref. I was instigating. He done well. One of the best refs we've had. This seasons been tomfoolery from the first game with Zac Smith getting injured. We need to use
the pledge to get someone decent on loan. If we won 4 0 it would have been a miracle. Sol Wanjau Smith annoyed me at the end with his short corner which we lost the ball. I'm still trying to work out if I rate him.

I wondered if we were taking short corners because we had no one on the pitch who could deliver a long one.

Re: Weymouth tonight
My assessment of the evening. We no longer have the players that take teams apart. We all remember our great players over the years but they seem sadly lacking now. I would not include We have two quality players in Joe Raynes and Wanjo-Smith. Otherwise we are struggling.
