Salisbury game
Tough listen but great comeback, min £12k from run so far, sounded like great support there.

Re: Salisbury game
We dominated from the outset but in the first half were poor in the last third, even though we made a couple of good chances. I felt at HT that the game was there to be won. Second half we showed a lot more intent up front and put them under real pressure, and got a great win. Even so Harvey needed to make some great saves, so Salisbury took some beating.

Well done those able to be there. The support was quite audible over the BCR commentary.

Re: Salisbury game
For the first time this season we had a centre forward /No 9 performance culminating in an added time winner. Just hope this can continue for the future.

Agree about Fisher. For the first time this season we seemed to have a focus up front and he was quite a handful for Salisbury’s shambolic defence. I feel they’ll have to be far more accurate with their finishing to avoid a quick return to the Southern League.
Let’s hope today’s win kickstarts our season.

Re: Salisbury game
From the BCR commentary it sounded like the game could have gone either way?
The highlights - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc2WATsDBis - well done Dave.

HWR did well, and great scenes at the end with players and fans. Enfield game seems a long way ago now !

Thought it was great when the Salisbury scorer celebrated by rushing towards the fans only to realise they were all City supporters!

Fisher was outstanding. Thoroughly deserved his goal.

Looking at the highlights, he linked up well several times with Clark. Supplying each other with crosses.

Re: Salisbury game
Thank you for what you have given in the past Scot but I now think that it is now time for you to warm the bench - from memory you have only scored about 3 League goals in open play in nearly a year. Now that Fisher is fit again, he looks as if he has the stature and ability to be a good centre forward for us, so I hope that he and Sol will be given the chance to show that our search for a better strike force is already within our squad.

Re: Salisbury game
Agree with you, Steve, about Wilson's limitations, but let's not go overboard about Fisher just yet. He's had one good game and that was against the most limited of defences. But if he can build on Saturday's performance then we may have found the replacement for Cody when he was at his best for us.
From what I've seen of W-Smith he hasn't got the physique for playing in the middle - far more effective out wide. And yes, we do have two other wingers...

Re: Salisbury game
How many goals did Fisher score in pre season as himself, Trialist ABC or D, Player ABC or D?
I can find 4 (assuming he is the scoring trialist).
After a run in the starting eleven of a few games I hope he and Wilson together can score at least one goal every three or four games.
From Jerry's interview it was interesting to hear they have such limited time to work on set pieces.

We really will be struggling for goals if that’s the case!

Scott Wilson's Bath City stats. Played 104 games. Scored 47 goals. Not sure on assists. No way can he be dropped. Would have more goals if Cody didn't take penalty's.

Re: Salisbury game
Scott started the season looking really good but has been ineffective since coming back from injury. Hopefully he will get back to that sharper player.
Disagree about Sol mind. Think he would be an ideal foil for Fisher.

Re: Salisbury game
Well it might be worth trying them together. His partnership with Wilson against Enfield was ineffective but the latter has never suggested to me that he links well. I think the best partnership we’ve had at this level since relegation was Pratt and Watkins - they quickly formed a telepathic understanding and ran defences ragged. Also Cook and Fletcher.

Re: Salisbury game
Paul - I must just point out, that, despite your stats on Scot, a) I was most careful to stipulate that I was referring to [u]League /u] matches only, and it is these that have dried up - also I have noticed that he rarely scores against opposition of any quality, and this year the standard in our League is even higher than before. and b) your stats include the penalties that he has scored, so its only fair to ignore these in the same way that you would ignore Cody's.
Fair points that Martin has made, especially about Fisher's age, but as has been said, lets give a new combination a try. We all saw what Sol supplied to him which led to the winner on Saturday. Fitness will be a key issue, but at least he looks like a genuine No 9! I believe that if this works, then we have the making of a decent team again - just don't baffle us Jerry with your starting elevens too often - no Sol and no Lattrell (who we now know can take penalties) starting on Saturday. Of course Jerry will have had his reasons, but it ain't half frustrating that we cannot read his mind.

I think it is difficult to fit Tillson, Russe and Humphrey-Ewers all into the same midfield which is possibly why Latrell didn't start on Saturday - possibly the best combination is either Russe or Tillson with Latrell, but nice with players getting back to fitness that we have options in most positions now and hopefully able to make use of all 5 subs if we need to as the season goes on.
