euros comp

anything planned for the forum to have a forum competition for the 2nd biggest tournament in the world? i know its not bath city stuff, but the general forum is rarely viewed.

i guess we could all select the last 16 or something like that then last 8 last 4, runners up and winners. not sure of a simple format

Yes, would be good. Perhaps along similar lines to what we did for 2018 WC in Russia - predictions, banter and arguing!

group stages are boring. 24 teams with so many minnows means the group stage should be straight forward. might get a couple of decent matches in the last games of the group stage but that's it. last 16 onwards is when the tournament gets exciting. sounds good powell. look forward to the chat and predictions. will start studying the potential last 16 soon. argentina lost to saudi arabia and won WC 2022. Portugal drew 3 group games and won EURO 16. luck is huge in these tournaments. England are owed lots of luck so hopefully will get some after basically having bad luck every tournament except when we lost to iceland. on paper our 1st 11XI are the best in europe. looking forward to it now.

You’ll have to remind me of the bad luck England have suffered in the past but they have certainly struck gold with the draw this time. Along with Portugal they have what looks like the easiest pathway to the semis (and elimination by France) provided they win their group, which looks a given. A third placed team would await them in the last 16 and a runner up in the QF.  But finishing second in the group puts them in the tougher half of the draw (which would make up for the fortunate way things panned out for them in Russia 2018).
