There is some income AND pleasure for us fans.
In both football and cricket matches produce different benefits to training.
The downside is you will have tickets to buy Martin.

I always enjoy a pre-season game. No pressure and you can dream of winning the league in the sunshine.

No doubt the matches do bring benefits other than getting the players near to match fitness. I find them to be very dull to watch but I'm delighted they bring you pleasure, Colin. I buy tickets for all matches I attend so not sure what you're digging at there.

Just +'s and -'s for the season ticket holders we happen to be.

Re: Pre season
I'm not a season ticket holder.
I know of some who feel friendly matches should be included in the package but, as you say, it's a source of income for the Club despite the low attendances. Admittedly games with Bristol Rovers usually attract a decent away following.
For me the most useful pre-season fixtures are against teams at our level ideally on the Saturday before the season's start. We've played Gloucester in the past couple of years (the one at their place in 2022 was a forewarning of the poor season we were about to start). Maybe something similar is planned against another NLN club but Yate away matches the final warm up of last summer and we looked undercooked when we played a week later at Dartford.
