Another home draw!
Against the winners of tomorrow's 3rd round tie between Walsall Wood and Coalville Town.
Walsall are 12th in NPL Midland (2 levels below us) and won away at Hemel on penalties in the 2nd round.
Coalville are 11th in SPL Central (1 level below) and won away at Boston on penalties in the 2nd round.
Despite their leagues, Coalville is north of Walsall Wood!

Good to be home again. Walsall Wood have scored 26 goals and 25 against. Coalville Town have scored 48 goals, and 36 against.
Coalville will be favourites to win the tie tomorrow, but you never know.

I would say that's a pretty good draw for us. Could have been a lot worse. But we will need to make sure we are up for it.

It'll be post Christmas and we are still in a national cup competition

Careful now they had some decent Cup success in recent seasons, not to be taken lightly. 90mins and straight to pens does even up the odds for teams from lower leagues.

At the current rate it'll be Easter and we will still be in it. Tonight's match is off yet again.

Re: Another home draw!
It seems our opponents match will now be played at Coalville on 2nd Jan 2024. There is a rule that after 3 postponements the game is switched to the away side's ground.
Presumably our scheduled league match remains in place until then.

Off again tonight. Trying for 6th time next Tuesday 9th. Possibly 1 more chance after that before it goes to Saturday 13th.

Why don't the FA authorities insist the game be played at another venue?

They switched it from Walsal Wood after 3 attempts as per the competition rules. I guess Coalville get 3 now.

Weston were drawn at home to Wealdstone several years ago and after many postponements the game was played at Paulton.

Play it on 3G somewhere in between the 2 places if its off again. Preferably on the Wednesday or Thursday before the 13th January 2024.

Re: Another home draw!
Hi everyone, local reporter from Walsall Wood here. Coalville won 2-0 against Walsall Wood on Tuesday night in a game that didn't really get out of second gear for either side. Wood were struggling with injuries and suspensions, lacking the fire power in front of goal, but the defence stood strong.
Both teams made a few errors throughout the game, but Coalville were definitely not at their best. However, in a cup game it's about the result, and they got through to the Fourth Round.
Coalville's performance on Tuesday looked some way apart from where I, and probably others, would expect them to be, and will have to be a lot better to get a result at Twerton Park.
Good luck to you both.

Thanks Tom. If we play like we did on Tuesday then Coalville will have a good chance! Good luck to Walsall for the rest of the season - perhaps our paths will cross one day. I see some familiar names in your league - at least eight have played league fixtures against us in the past, mostly in the Southern League.
