Coldest I’ve been at a match since that night at Brislington.
Fair play to Chelmsford but we really shouldn’t have lost from that position.

And against Halesowen x number of years ago, when my hands froze onto the pitch railings.
Back to the thread - it was diabolical that we lost today - against 10 men and 2-0 up after 44 minutes. Our midfield showed very little inventiveness in trying to break through their defence, as good as it was. Only a win on Wednesday can repair the damage to the players, and our, morale now.

Re: Chelmsford thread
coldest 5 games for, me, today, histon away (2010 or 2011), poole away (2018 or 2019), mangotsfield away somerset cup in around 1993, watchet town home somerset cup around 1991, freegard scored 6, we won 9 - 0. regarding today cracking gate of over a 1000 today considering the weather. 2 - 0 up cruise control. they go down to 10 men. complacency kicks in as subconsiosly players get it into their mind its going to be easy. its hard not too think its going to be easy. sometimes red cards go in the favour of the team with 10 men. seen it all before. fair play too chelmsford, what a great day for their fans. do we ever beat them? last time i can remember is 2010 play off semi finals. Who got MOTM today?

We were completely outplayed by the clarets throughout. They dominated us with good passing movement and skills and once they got in front shut us out effectively.
We looked lethargic in comparison.
We need to write it off and hope we put up a better fight on Wednesday.

I agree, they played some excellent football at times. Like ourselves they appear to have got playing away from home down to a tee. Strange that they struggle to be successful at their place - on their forum one poster requested that Chelmsford sell season tickets just for away matches!

The pitch was surprisingly soft under foot in the first half but at half time the grass went crisp in a matter of minutes. And there was a monkey looking for a brass welder.
Of course it always feels colder sat down. Standing on the popular side you can huddle together for warmth.

Re: Chelmsford thread
Our second pen was completely against the run of play. We had been second best since the first pen.

Re: Chelmsford thread
It was a game where several players were not at their best. That happens sometimes.
I must say that Clarke has never been effective on the left. Thomas seems to be able to switch wings, but Clarke loses his edge. He was terrific on the right.
