Chelmsford thread
Looks to be a tough fixture tomorrow at Chelmsford - they're sixth in the table with the second best defensive record. However probably better to be going there now rather than pre Christmas as their recent form is not good (although Chelmsford fans will be pointing out the same about us!)
Hopefully some fans will be able to travel up from the west to join the exiles - fortunately this is our last trip to Essex for this season...

Re: Chelmsford thread
Tough, but they have only 4 points from last 4 games. Injuries and suspensions hampering them. Struggled to a draw at Hungerford on Tuesday with 2 red carded
Some posters on their forum seem to think the club has no appetite for promotion.
Is Greenslade back for us yet?

Re: Chelmsford thread
I think this is the second match Greenslade is suspended for.

It is a tough match for us given how we are playing. I will be pleasantly surprised if we get anything from the game.

Re: Chelmsford thread
Well who saw that coming, certainly not the good away City support who must have thought we were going to face another struggling, pointless afternoon. City had the best start when a good ball into the box was well controlled from Wilson and drilled into the corner of the net after 7 minutes. This visibly lifted the team who then set about delivering a battling, resilient, hard working performance that ultimately gave them the points. Chelmsford set about moving the ball briskly around the pitch in the 1st half but could never get the better of the City rearguard with Batten having a dominant game, but tbh all of the defence did with Harris confident and reassuring when called into action. It was, however, his opposite number who had to be more alert tipping over a rasping shot from Cooke as City looked to increase the lead. Indeed it was Cooke who was increasingly winning flick ons that weren't quite falling to feet as City finished the half strongly.
The 2nd half onslaught from Chelmsford was a slow burner and it was City who were causing problems with a another tip over from the keeper from Morton and the final ball not quite finding feet or head. Chelmsford quickened the pace to try and get around the back but City held firm and any half chances the home team had were sent wide or the final ball nestled into the hands of a grateful Harris. With time running slowly out City looked comfortable and dangerous on the break with sub Cox adding some fresh legs, and it was he, with some deft control, rolled the ball to another sub Tom Smith to drill the ball gloriously into the corner with 2 minutes to go that meant the City fans could relax and enjoy the final moments and give the team a well earned ovation at the end.
While one game doesn't turn around the recent slump, the boost to confidence and belief will be huge which can be hopefully taken into the upcoming home games at Twerton next week.

Great summary Gerry. Ultimately a great, but very long, day out supporting the City.
Currently sat at Chippenham Station waiting for the last of my very many trains and replacement buses which I endured today.
But..... a bloomin great 90 minutes of footie for a change.
Oh, and the final train from Chipp'n'pin to Trowbridge is just pulling in.
Roll on to Tuesday.

8 train journeys, 2 train replacement buses and 2 scheduled buses.... but 3 points. Up the City.

Agreed, Kermy, that was a real endurance test getting there and back today.
Two very well taken goals were more than enough to secure the points against a side who look in free fall. Winnable games coming up in the next fortnight either side of Ebbsfleet’s visit on Saturday - if we can get on a roll who knows what is possible.
