3G pitch decision
I see that the BANES target decision date has been moved from August to 22nd September...two days time!
Of course it might well be moved again.

Larkhall's successful application for 3G had an interesting write up in the FA Cup program.

Re: 3G pitch decision
Why would permission be refused? Every other 'non league' (what a misnomer that is) club has installed one.
Is there an environmental issue due to the materials used perhaps?

It will probably need royal assent from Scofield

Re: 3G pitch decision
If you read this new report (link below) it looks like there have been hold ups due to technical negotiations between Wessex water and Banes council about the drainage. Historically the pitch drains into a foul sewer but that is no longer allowed under new regulations. Heavy rain on a grass pitch will soak into the ground quite slowly but with a 3G pitch there is risk that heavy rain could cause flooding because the ground doesn't absorb water in the same way due to the lack of roots and soil. It seems like more clarity was needed by the planners on how the new pitch will cope with heavy rainfall and where that water will go in terms of the pitch design. A report was uploaded on Friday (22nd) so hopefully things will move forward now.

Re: 3G pitch decision
Strange that there has been no acknowledgement of the fact that City have been granted planning consent for a 3g pitch by the club itself. So are we laying a plastic carpet next summer or are there other hurdles that need to be crossed like funding. The more you think about it the more the club need to do to provide facilities for the pitch to be used throughout the week. There needs to be staff of duty to assist. There needs to be good changing facilities and lockers. There needs to be the provision of food and drink. Would we need qualifies first aiders on duty? The club indicated that they would make £150k profit per annum. I struggle to think how this figure could be achieved. I don't wish to be gloom and doom but, I am just curious, especially as we have not had an announcement that next summer a 3g pitch is definately being installed.

Andrew Pierce mentioned it in his programme notes for Tuesday's game, but yes, odd that the club hasn't made an announcement.

Is there a publication of the way these projections were calculated? If so, is it open to view?

Re: 3G pitch decision
How can the Club afford to put in a 3G pitch?
Many clubs in our league have proven that it is possible to do this through a combination of grants and bonds. We are working on what our financing will look like and will share this in due course.
So the capital financing of the 3G will be published? The financial projections of income and expenditure ought to be also...

Re: 3G pitch decision
I think it would be a stretch to make even £100k profit p.a. I would love to be proved wrong though.

Re: 3G pitch decision
If 3G pitches bring niggly injuries (has this been proven?) any profit may be lost in the need for a larger squad.
