New contract
I see that the club has announced this morning that Jerry’s contract has been extended for another season.

Re: New contract
These are some of the Twitter posts from the club:
Chair Nick Blofeld: "As we work towards the next phase as a club, we’re really pleased that Jerry has agreed to stay and start work straight away building another strong squad towards a successful new season."
43 Win Percentage
59 Percent increase in home attendance
110 Wins in charge
The longest-serving manager since Bobby Jones
We are delighted to announce that an agreement has been reached on an extension to Jerry Gill’s contract as the men’s first team manager.
We look to finish the 2023 campaign strongly, maintain this into next season and retain the excellent squad Jerry has built.

Another nail in the coffin of Bath City FC I am afraid.

Re: New contract
Like a lot of people I have had my doubts about whether this is the right thing to do or not. Well now we know what the club's position is shouldn't we all get behind it whatever our feelings about the manager, especially with the obvious financial issues, rather than see this as just another opportunity to put it down?

My views don't change. The way I see it this decision would have been pushed through by the chair (strong character) supported by a couple of others. There would have been dissenters but their voice would have been stifled.
They have allowed Gill too much influence. Will that change? It needs to but I have my doubts. Look where it has got us over 2 seasons. £82k loss year ending May 22 and projected loss for this season at least £40k. These 2 season we were supposed to be making a 'small profit'. If you take a small profit as £15k a season it means we are at least £150k adrift over 2 seasons. This is an absolute disaster that Blofeld and co have presided over, no financial control over spending. Board could at least admit to mistakes and not give him a new contract. I believe same (or better) results could be achieved by someone else on a smaller salary working with a smaller budget.
As I see it will just be more of the same hence I say another nail in the coffin of Bath City.
Bath City is not a community club, except when the few who control things want supporters to come up with money. If people are happy with that fine.

If you keep doing what you are doing, you’ll keep getting what you got.

Re: New contract
It's obvious that the Club has no balls, cos Gill has them in his pocket.

I'd suggest that's more down to the brilliant marketing job done by the Club. Only Weymouth have lost more home matches!

As we're a community club, it would be nice to be told on what grounds Jerry Gill was given the extra year(s) . Cos I'd like to know before I'm suckered in to giving anymore donations. Though they may be loans next time.

Do you still wish Gill wasn't given an extra year?Digger wrote:As we're a community club, it would be nice to be told on what grounds Jerry Gill was given the extra year(s) . Cos I'd like to know before I'm suckered in to giving anymore donations. Though they may be loans next time.
