Not that it is surprising of course, but the government has confirmed no travelling away fans, I guess the emphasis on travelling being if any of us live somewhere where City were playing, we'd be allowed in.
What the actual experience of watching a game will be like/whether anyone will want to go etc., I do not know.

Re: No away fans
No surprise there I guess.
Coach travel for fans is nigh on impossible but I'm sure plenty of our fans would have wanted to make their own way to away games.
I assume those who have bought tickets for Dorking away on Saturday will either get a refund or go "as a neutral".
Hope the club get a big supply of scotch eggs for sale in the bar for our home games!

Re: No away fans
Doesn't appeal to me at present, Jon. Like many other away regulars I like to make a day of it - no fun travelling by train at present, few attractions open and haven't ventured in to a pub since March.
Seems to be a sensible decision but of course clubs like Dorking will always jump the gun. I understand the NL are meeting today to ratify the return of fans.

Re: No away fans
The rules - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know - very confusing but as I read them someone from Tier 1 or Tier 2 CAN go to a football match in the same or a higher Tier.
With the rules interpretation / changing almost daily, what they will be on Saturday is guesswork.
Dorking Wanderers FC @DorkingWDRS currently agree; they have liked tweets from some people, not resident in the area, who have purchased tickets AND accept online purchases from anyone with an email address.
What is irksome is why City and Dorking haven't issued a joint statement saying something like "we advise all fans to hold off from purchasing tickets until we can formally confirm the Government rules allow the public can attend".
Like comrade I haven't been "socialising" since March; I have my own "tier 4" which is simply exercising and shopping for food.

Chippenham is an interesting one for those of us who live in Wiltshire.
I could probably justify my attendance as I had only driven there to check the referee's eyesight.

More confusing info - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-on-phased-return-of-sport-and-recreation/elite-sport-return-to-competition-safe-return-of-spectators - any lawyers able to translate.
"No travelling away fans, for Competition Venues hosting opposing sides. This is to significantly reduce impacts on transport and the movement of populations between regions."
If I look elsewhere I may find a conflicting rule to negate this.

Supposedly the league did not give permission for clubs to start selling tickets, bar a game in NLN maybe, until after today’s meeting, so why Dorking went ahead and did it anyway is anyone’s guess.
The demand would still be there tomorrow.

Re: No away fans
Typical Dorking I suppose. They were at the forefront of campaigning for clubs at our level to be elite so that the playoffs could go ahead and then were among the first to complain when being elite meant fans couldn't be allowed in.
Seems odd though that tickets could be sold for the NLN game (Southport v Farsley tomorrow I believe) before the league had met.

Re: No away fans
When we play our first home game under the new rules could it be that interest would be so high that we may attract more than 2000 spectators? What would happen then?

Re: No away fans
The club will probably make attendance available by advanced ticket sales only after giving season ticket holders first choice.
However, until the Trophy cup draws are made, exactly when the next home game will take place is unknown; Trophy games are due to be played on Tuesday 15th and Saturday 19th December.
Hungerford league game on the 28th December, not normally an away invasion, could be more popular than usual.
According to sources: FA Trophy 2nd & 3rd Round Proper draw by 1pm on Wednesday 09 December...but due to postponements of previous round games, the draw could be very complicated.
Meanwhile...Concord away Tuesday 08th December - "All tickets must be pre purchased and sadly away supporters are not allowed in, however we will continue our live stream." - anyone attending or risking the online debacle?
