Ball start for Hartridge who is on bench.
City blow a 2 goal half time lead, miss a late pen in normal time, survive enormous pressure, and win it in extra time to net £3750 as winners. Phew.

Given our pedigree with penalties we need to win this in extra time.

That was nerve wracking. We always struggle down here. After they equalised they immediately hit the post and we were on the rack. But we came back and Brunty scored a cracker to get us through. To be fair.......it was never in doubt!

I would have been a lot calmer if the commentators didn't sound like they had squeaky bums. But they may just have been rattled by the disco.

A very satisfying win on so many levels....
A special mention to the supporters who managed to get there last night. Gosport is a devil of a place to get to for an evening fixture at the best of times with the nightmare of the M27 during the late afternoon/early evening. And part of that was shut coming back with a diversion through Eastleigh (A36, you could have put us up for the night!). And then further closures in Salisbury and on the A36 made it a marathon. Should Sholing win through I pray they don’t take us to a replay and a repeat of that journey.

Welcome to my world! These are things I have to deal with for every trip to Twerton Park (much prefer going to away games). By the way, Gosport is is a devil of a place to get to, even from this end of the A36. Getting to Sholing, if that happens, will be significantly easier than getting to Gosport.comrade powell wrote:Gosport is a devil of a place to get to for an evening fixture at the best of times with the nightmare of the M27 during the late afternoon/early evening. I got home at 2.30am. Though that is still 2 3/4 hours earlier than my last away trip using the same mode of transport.

I got back at 12.30 but couldn't sleep until about half two. My adrenaline finally ebbed away during another faltering shorthand session.
So many comparisons to Margate. Just hope the next trophy game isn't the same as the one which followed that.
Much credit because when you've thrown away a two-goal lead and squandered a penalty you start to think it's not your night. Particularly at that place and in that competition. But to kill them off was top work.
A shame we couldn't keep a clean sheet to prevent that dreadful goal music. In a crowd of 306 it is the tackiest thing imaginable. And my word was it loud in that main stand.

Had they pushed the replay back one more day you could have repeated the Margate return and watch England falter overseas in a test match.
Still ranks as one of the most extraordinary evenings watching us. City that is, England’s collapse in the Ashes was familiar.
