Riley Lowe starts, Stearn and Simpson on full bench.
A4 derby double come-from-behind-wins for City as they go 2nd.

Well done Jerry and the team. Festive double over Chippenham, home attendances averaging over 1,000, things heading in right direction off the field and now second in the table.
Great times to be a city fan

The edge was taken off my enjoyment by the idiot with the flares.
But a deserved victory. There was only one team in it second half.

The edge was taken off mine when our mics went haywire for a minute and ruined the commentary for Britton’s goal. Hoping to rescue it.
Personally not keen on flares either.
I’ve picked the wrong year to miss half a season for studying. Even the 0-0 with Hampton was decent enough. I’ve been buzzing after the other three.

Very pleased for Britton who looked like a natural striker. He made his finish look fairly straightforward but I did not think it was as simple as it appeared.

Sorry if they offended you. I went to a 1970s New Years Eve party and hadn't managed to change my trousers in time!tovid wrote:The edge was taken off my enjoyment by the idiot with the flares.

While the flares maybe fun for those who chuck them, they’re an irritation to others. Admittedly just a passing irritation but the first one landed on the pitch and may well be included in the referee’s report. Not sure if we can be punished for an offence at an away ground but we could well have been after the incident during the home fixture with Torquay.

Since there was no segregation how could it be 100% certain the flares were thrown (or even worn!) by a City supporter.

I was stood right next to the flare in the stand at the Torquay game and not a massive fan! Speaking of which good to see justice handed out to those Torquay "fans":

I have just had a look at our results page. By going 2nd yesterday it means that at some stage in the season we have occupied evey position in the top half.

And the last time we let a goal in in the second half of a game was v Gosport.

On the subject of FLARES (not your old ones Rob)
There was a flare thrown during the Wealdstone PLay Off game last year.
I saw the person in question who despite wearing a Bath scarf etc did not appear to be a regular face at Twerton Park.
This is incredibly dangerous and moronic . I would have no hesitation in pointing out to stewards or club representatives any moron that would do such a thing.
Yours, cheerful as ever.

And someone got on the pitch today to try and celebrate the winner. I didn’t notice it in real time, I would have announced something otherwise.
Yes, I get that it’s hardly life-threatening but, like throwing flares, it’s not acceptable. Let the players enjoy their moment on the pitch, fans can hug their mates etc on the terraces. Running on to celebrate a goal in a game of this magnitude is laughable, it cemented our position in second place in January, we haven’t won the league with seconds of the season to spare.
Really hope these incidents aren’t commonplace as it’ll spoil my enjoyment of what is turning into another terrific season.

Drunk grown men on the pitch is obviously not good but in the grand scheme of things a younger fan jumping on the pitch to celebrate a last minute winner is not going to spoil anyones season is it?
celebrating on the pitch was fairly commonplace when I started going to games at TP in the late 90's and some of those "offenders" are now (semi) respectable members of society!
No need to hype up a fan behaviour issue when there isn't one

I didn’t indicate they were drunk, does someone know something? This person looked old enough to know better. And it will become an issue if we are reported for it. I’m not speculating in what they’re like away from the football. I know plenty of people that are calm, considerate individuals but when a decision goes against their team they explode with rage.
If we lose to a last minute goal at Concord next week and one of their fans runs on the pitch to celebrate, I’ll also be critical. Our players aren’t closed books - they go to the bar after so you’re pretty much free to chat to them then about how great that last minute winner was. You could even get a photo with them.
Save running on the pitch for when we win a competition outright.

I was just trying to highlight the difference between a drunken older fan getting on the pitch aggressively like we've seen at last seasons Torquay game and younger fans enthusiastically celebrating a late goal.
Yes we are lucky to have a chance to chat 1-1 with players about their post match analysis but not quite the same as sharing a goal celebration with them.
I look forward to the scenes when we win the Somerset premier Cup!

And what did the stewards do after you pointed out the person in question?
