While Stearn predictably replaces Hamblin, a late change sees keeper Clarke replaced by Wiles Richards.

Oh dear. Do we know what's wrong with Ryan?

Ankle injury in warm up. Big test for the young keeper this i think.

You're not wrong there. It has been a terrible first quarter of an hour.

Hey...it got better. Well done to all the players, and the City faithful were in good voice.

Good point in the circumstances - would have settled for that at the start even before the injuries to Ryan and Ross.
Usual excellent commentary from Mark and Bob - almost like being there!

Thanks - but I really need to brush up on player identification. So difficult under lights, at a distance and numbers which blend in with stripes! Probably be the last midweek game I commentate on for a bit. I’m told Ross Stearn listened in from the hospital, too.

Had the same problem with the numbers on Saturday - didn’t the same thing happen a couple of seasons ago as well? Especially difficult this season with so many new players.

Tom Smith wiped him out in an accidental collision. Bit of a bump and scratch above the eye. Bruising I think. Hopefully be fit Saturday. Obviously felt bad at the time because I can't remember him ever being substituted through injury for us.

The ol' grey cells of mine are recalling a time when Ross was on the end of a particularly nasty late tackle which left him writhing on the ground with a large open gash on his leg. I don't think he could continue that day - may have been about 6-8 years ago - at Braintree, or a similar open terraced ground. Chrissie, who was also at that game was in tears as we knew that Ross would not be play-acting. I remember being so incensed with a couple of their fans who were shouting at him to get up and play on - and they apologised to us when I told them, in so many words! to open their eyes and look at the extent of his injury. Cue records Mark.

I’ll have a look through games when he was subbed. Might have been one I wasn’t at.
I remember Chris Allen being carried off at Bishop’s Stortford before which caused a bit of an argument on the terraces. Some of their fans argued he made a meal of it when he was clearly in agony.
