Wd like to think Pratt has influenced Hemmings signing to help share the load.

They've been after Slocombe for a while I think.
Weston's Facebook page/website must be exploding with moneybags quotes going by their embarrassing reaction to the game at their place.

Re: New Signings
OK, now let me see ....
Paul Williams said at the recent open meeting that the playing budget would probably have to be cut.
We've signed 3 from WSM, presumably not too expensively given their directors said they can't subsidise to previous levels.
So do we now lose 3 of our squad in order to make that budget cut?
I know Keats and Brown have gone, I wonder about Addlesbury and Burnell?

Re: New Signings
Probably right logic though players on different salaries, e.g, imagine Keats and Brown at different ends of pay scale. Thought it was taken as read that Burnell would go and he wouldnt be the cheapest.

Yes. Be good to hang on to Ben though. I rate him and his height is useful. Possibly injury prone though.

Re: New Signings
Do we believe this influx of WSM players has any bearing on Ross Stern's future? It's tenuous I guess, but I am aware we signed him from WSM.

Re: New Signings
He played for us before and went to Weymouth but don't think he left under a cloud. I think the management tried to keep him on but Weymouth offered a better deal, think they were disappointed he left.
Pretty sure he came back towards the end of the season but didn't make an appearance, and guessing he went to Weston from there.

Re: New Signings
In terms of budget events like Ken Loach's film showing at the watershed and the 125 action group's efforts will give the Board confidence to set a budget........I hope people to can get along to see Ken's last film

That's breaking news! I don't think Ken has announced his complete retirement just yet (although I believe he may have suggested that it may be his last feature film).pete mac wrote:Ken's last film

Re: New Signings
With the announcement of the lineup at this year's Cannes film festival, the stage is set for a showdown between perhaps the two most venerable British directors working today. In the red corner: Ken Loach, presenting his final feature film, Jimmy's Hall. And in the blue: Mike Leigh, whose biopic of the painter JMW Turner had been tipped by many to premiere at Venice later in the summer, but was today revealed to be debuting on the Croisette.
If he calls in to have a drink with me this week I'll ask him if it's true!

Re: New Signings
Ken certainly didn't give me the impression the other day that this would be his finale. It sounds like the filming of it in Ireland, which took several months last year, was particularly exhausting. Still, those who get to the Bristol screening will probably be in the know. Really hope City fans will try to get across. I'm sure Ken won't mind me saying that he paid for a seat on every single SC coach last season to help ensure it ran. Along with his support for the Foundation's activities and being a leading light of the Society, this was typical of the sacrifices he makes for our club.

Re: New Signings
The media are saying its his last feature film and his Film company have been implying it. I hope its not. I think he'll carry on doing shorts.
Without Ken's constant support in all sorts of ways, as Martin says, we would be a much poorer Club in every way.
