Concord decide not to go to Truro
Concord Rangers took the decision on Monday not to travel to the League match at Truro tonight. Interesting to see what the consequences of this decision will be. http://www.concordrangers.co.uk/club-statement-2/

Re: Concord decide not to go to Truro
Very sensible decision.
Weather in the London area and forecast: Between 02:00 Tue 27th and 12:00 Tue 27th
Snow showers or longer periods of snow are expected on Tuesday, accompanied by very low temperatures. This is an update to extend the warning further north into coastal Suffolk and a little further west across across southeast England. There is the likelihood of travel delays on roads, with some stranded vehicles and passengers, as well as delays or cancellations to rail and air travel. Some rural communities could become cut off. Power cuts may also occur and other services, such as mobile phones, may be affected.
So there is a very significant danger and travel should be avoided.

I was five at the time and thought that all winters would be like that. The water mains froze and we had to ferry buckets of water from a standpipe a couple of streets away. I think coal ran out too and we had to forage for wood.

Re: Concord decide not to go to Truro
Probably a very easy decision for Concord to make considering how bitter they apparently feel over the late postponement of the original fixture!

I see they are due back in Truro tonight. Torquay is a doubt, Poole off, Havant off. I wonder what the chances are of a wasted trip again.

Depends what constitutes a wasted trip. Lost 2-0 so not entirely a success.

At least they got it played and out of the way. We've had a couple of late postponements down there, but at least it was about half the distance that Concord had to travel.BenE wrote:Depends what constitutes a wasted trip. Lost 2-0 so not entirely a success.

Sorry -what an embarrassing comment. It is the sort of comment my wife would come out with when we lose 'so it was a waste of time going then?'
Doh.
Doh.
