Murphy replaces the injured Watkins. Kept that quiet.

Injury forces Artus off, replaced by Compton.

1-0 City through Marvin, but bad injury to L/Evans see Lucas on and also Jones for Murphy tactically. So all City subs used in 1st half.

City win 1-0. 3rd win on bounce, 1st at home and 1st clean sheet. With all subs used in first 40m must have been battling performance at end. Marvin doesn't play 90m v often. Well done boys. Will we have a full bench on Monday?

Good performance, would be picky to fault much of it though perhaps should have seen game out earlier? Didn't rate Poole that much

One thing I've noticed though is how light the ball seems to be these days - seems to be in air a lot.

Free kicks etc. have a tendency to fly miles over from both sides.

Compton seems a very useful player

Thought they were busy and physical and we were second best in the first half. Battled in the second and deserved the points. For me we need to match teams physically if we are going to go up. Marvin had a great game

Thought we dug in second half and showed character. All the subs on in first half hour or so and had to play last 30 with Nick struggling big time so well done to everyone for seeing it out. Poole not a nice team but we still need hard man in midfield.
This was the best all round game I have seen Marvin Morgan play, used his experience very well. Would have been my MOM.

Interesting that Luton Roman says that Murphy going off was tactical - I assumed that he was injured as well and Chronicle report seems to back that up. Seems a huge gamble with all of the second half to go and no subs left - will be interesting to hear what Gary has to say.

I agree with SteveS that Marvin deserved MOM but at least there were a few candidates today.

Great save from Southwood just before the end to keep it at 1-0 - will be interesting to see how it works out between him and Wollacott over the next few games.

I thought it was tactical and Jones did well in defence. Straker went central midfield and did well with Riggy.

Murphy took a knock. I can't imagine that GO ever intended to have Rigg and Straker as his midfield holding players.
We were actually by far the best team second half but if you are at 1-0 the opposition will always have a chance.
Agree that Marvin was MOM. He is currently showing that despite appearances all last season he is actually a good player.
Nick could hardly move at the end so it was a real battling performance from everyone to get the result. It will be difficult to field a full bench on Monday though so take your boots with you and you might get a game.

Good battling performance. Agreed that Rigg and Straker did well in bringing some steel to the midfield but I still worry about Diallo going (as do others from talking to people yesterday). However, I am not going to criticise as 9 points from 3 games is a great tally. I also thought that Morgan had his best game for us and Jones was assured for us when he came on - trying to distribute the ball rather than get rid.

He has a lot of making up to do, but he should have the quality at this level. If he managed to keep up his fitness must be improving too. He could be a major asset as the season progresses. Morgan finished the last campaign really well and I have been very impressed with what I've seen of him this year. Keep it up boys.

Marvin started last season well. Got clattered at Poole 1st half and did not come out for the 2nd. Seem to remember he was out for a while and I wonder if he was still carrying the injury for some time after he came back. Is/was he only paid when he plays?
Just a thought.

Glad to hear no fracture for Lemonheigh-Evans, but could still be out for a while. (from Bristol City website)

It was an ideal game for Jones as their No9 wanted to fight rather than play and Jones is always going to come off best in that. But he was caught flat footed once when we were only saved by the lino's flag and that is what will happen with any fleet footed strikers.

Why wasn't he rested then?
