Betting Compo 17/18

SEASON 2017/18

The Bath City Betting Compo is back for another season. Comrade Powell has kindly administered the competition in recent years, but has stepped down this season. As the current title holder, I felt it was my responsibility to take over the reigns.

The rules are more or less the same as last season, apart from two changes. Firstly, if you fail to place a bet, you will be charged £2, instead of £1. It has also been decided that contestants will be limited to a maxium stake of £10.

Below is a summary of the rules, taken from last season, seeing as Comrade wrote them so well. I have amended them to reflect the two new changes...


The odds offered at William Hill will normally be used - it's easy to access and unlike several other sites, does not require registration. However, if he does not cover one of our matches (very likely in the Trophy), it may be possible to get odds from another company.

Rules

1) each member starts with £1 for each match day remaining from the day of their first bet - allowing for 42 league matches, a run to the 3rd round of the cup and the trophy final, there are a maximum of 56 match days, so you will receive £56 if you start on the 1st match, £55 on the 2nd etc

2) you can place up to £10 from your kitty on each match

3) only 1 bet per match day

4) you cannot place a bet on an outcome already chosen by someone else - this will be relaxed for cup and trophy matches where odds are only offered for the 3 results.  

5) once you have bet on your first match, you will be deducted £2 on each matchday that you don't place a bet - but you are welcome to post your prediction before the odds are posted - eg City/Whitehawk: City to win 1-0, Hayes/City draw


Odds will be posted on this thread once they are available - this is often the day before the match. When only a few bets are offered, it is usually worth checking again later.

You must make your bet clear when posting, showing the amount staked, what you are betting on and the odds. Obviously you cannot make a bet once the match has started.

The winner is the one with the most money after the final match of the season.
Equal placings will be decided by who placed the most successful bets.
