Re: The annual Who Are We Going To Play Next Year thread
Re the posts concerning Poole's ground and the play offs, this quote below from the Dorset Echo match report -
"Killick's side, who learned last week that they will not be allowed to compete in the National South play-offs, are now winless in four games."

Re: The annual Who Are We Going To Play Next Year thread
So, now we know who'll be battling it out in the Isthmian and Southern play-offs - and who we'll automatically be getting back.
Sadly Bognor Regis Town couldn't capitalise on a rare Havant & Waterlooville draw, and the Hampshire side have made an automatic bounce back to our league by winning the title. As best as I can establish, Bognor will be playing Wingate & Finchley in the first knockout stage, while, Dulwich Hamlet have bagged Enfield Town, who were lucky to get a late goal against Leiston to cement their play-off slot.
The Southern quartet have also sorted themselves out, with Leamington playing Slough Town, while Merthyr Town will battle it out against Hitchin Town to see who will join Chippenham in promotion joy.
However, the bottom of the Vanarama national was all over the place this afternoon. With a game to go, Braintree Town on 48 points and York City on 49 sit in the relegation berths, but it's still far from clear who will join North Ferriby and Southport next week. Both Guisley and Torquay United sit just a point below the dropzone on 50, with Woking and Chester just above them on 52, neither of them entirely out of it if results go against them. One suspects this one could go right down to the wire!

Looks like we could be playing Leyton Orient and West Ham next season.

Did they sign a load of our players on loan?
I don't mind Hitchin if they come up but it's another over 'that' side of the country...

Depending on who else comes up/down, Hitchen might well go North. It's really going to stretch the fag packet this year.

So tonights Isthmian play-off games saw Bognor beat Wingate & Finchley with a 90th minute winner, while Dulwich beat Enfield 4-2 in what looked like a cracking match in front of over 2500 punters.
Bognor get home advantage on Monday.

York, Braintree, Southport and N Ferriby all now relegated from the National league. So probably another 'attractive' Essex fixture for next season.

Re: The annual Who Are We Going To Play Next Year thread
So, the clubs that we know that are coming down and up to the second tier of the Vanarama are:
York City (North)
Southport (North)
North Ferriby United (North)
Blyth Spartans (North)
Spennymoor Town (North)
Braintree Town (South)
Chippenham Town (South)
Havant & Waterlooville (South)
And the two remaining play-offs are between:
Leamington (North) & Hitchin Town (most probably South, but borderline)
Bognor Regis Town (South) & Dulwich Hamlet (South)
So if Leamington win their play-offs, that will mean that six of the ten are more a natural fit for the North, with four of them coming South. Even if Hitchin win, they sit about as far North in the borderline counties as you can get, and it will be down to an executive decision from the Conference boys as to which way they go.
So it's looking increasingly likely that we'll get at least one of the most Southern facing sides from the National North coming to play in our league next term, with Gloucester City and Brackley Town being the most likely fits, as sadly our old chums at Worcester City were relegated today.
But of course, with our league nothing is as simple as it looks, and they may even surprise us and give us Leamington!
Both remaining play-offs will take place on Monday.

With both Blyth and Spennymoor going up to North, Gloucester might be quite pleased to move South, even if it does mean 4 trips to Essex.

Bognor and Leamington the play-off winners this afternoon.
So it looks like we will get Gloucester or Brackley.
Gloucester would be more of a local game but, for me, Brackley would be a new ground.

Hitchin conceded 89th min pen and had man sent off for Leamington to win 2-1 in extra time. Over 2000 there and over3000 at Bognor to see their 2-1 win. Where do all those people go during the rest of the season??

And Tiverton beat Salisbury in the SL South final 2-0. Think most pleased about that!

I think Evesham play somewhere different so would also be a new ground?
Supposedly Brackley's ground is basic, it's in the middle of nowhere and they get poor crowds. Fits the criteria for our level.

What's the likely mileage compared to last season?
Asks someone that simply can't be bothered to check himself.

Sure we can't tempt you with trips to Concord and East Thurrock with a combined attendance of around 500?
