Re: Bowman leaves for Chippenham
I am very sorry to see Dan Bowman go.
I think he is a good player and always thought he was exciting to watch running down the wing with the ball.
Good Luck Dan for the future.

Very sorry to see him go. He appears to have been frozen out recently so I can understand it from his point of view.
Best of luck to Dan but I think him leaving is something we could regret in the future.

Don't think he is the player he was couple of seasons ago.
Frees up even more money for GO to recruit which seems to be likely according to Chronicle.

Definitely expecting a right back to be signed soon then!
Shame to see Dan go but can't blame him if he thinks he'll get more game time at Chippenham.

Very depressing, we were better with him in the side than without him, have to give GO the chance to put together the kind of side he wants, I hope he proves me wrong, but the doubts are creeping in.

Liked him, but his play often involved fast runs down the wing which amounted to nothing.
I'm glad to lose any player if someone better comes in place of them.

Re: Bowman leaves for Chippenham
Dan wasn't fit when he came back after the summer. That gave GO the reason to play Rigg and he's become the prefered option.
Dan has been one of the many players who have gradually got worse for us. I thought GO would bring out the best in him, because he certainly has the talent, but it hasn't happened.
I hope this move reinvigorates his football career. I will miss his marauding runs into the heart of the opposition defence especially given the lack of it from anyone else in recent games.

Re: Bowman leaves for Chippenham
Disappointed about this. Bowman was and is a promising player who I thought was one of the few who ran at the opposition and worried them. I preferred to see him at right midfield than right back as he could attack more then. What really disappoints me is that I assumed, when he went, it may be to a bigger club as he certainly had the potential to play at a higher level. For him to be another player to go to Chippenham is not a great move for him long-term, I fear, even if he is going to get more game time. I am not, by the way, criticising GO for this as he obviously hasn't seen the best of Bowman and I think that Bowman's decline - slight as it is - is due to him being mismanaged last season. That along with limited appearances due to injury this season seems to have done for him in Ower's eyes.

Re: Bowman leaves for Chippenham
Although I'm not surprised at this news, it's very disappointing. It seemed odd over the summer that Dan seemed to be keeping the club waiting over committing for another season - maybe there was the prospect of a job or another club elsewhere.
Maybe he hasn't been at his best but I think he could still have offered pace and creativity to our pedestrian midfield. Just want to add that in his coaching role for the Foundation he was an excellent ambassador for our club.
So yet another youngster who moves on to a lower level club. We haven't had a good record for many, many years now for developing and benefitting from our young players.

Yes, I should have said about what a great ambassador for the club that he is. Always available to help out, obviously a bright lad as well and very approachable and well-mannered. Quite the opposite of the image many have of young footballers.
I also forgot to say that I hope he does very well wherever he ends up.

Re: Bowman leaves for Chippenham
I think BenE's point is valid - Dan took a while to decide whether to commit to the club at the start of the season which meant he wasn't ready when the league kicked-off and Rigg started at right back where he has done well enough to keep him out since then.
Also agree with others that Dan is probably best as a wing-back because he is better going forward than in a defensive role, but I got the feeling last season that his progress might have been partly the reason that Sekani left.

I'm also very sorry and surprised to see one of our brightest young talents allowed to leave. He always looked dangerous going forward and running at defences. What has induced our manager to commit such a serious error of judgment? I can only assume he has a replacement lined up.
Good luck, Dan.

Re: Bowman leaves for Chippenham
It did seem a little ironic on Saturday that, having preferred George Rigg to Dan at right back for most of the season, as soon as he leaves Rigg is moved into midfield and Jack Batten starts there!

Turnover
Bluntly players come and go. I trust GO to improve the squad.

Re: Bowman leaves for Chippenham
Agree with the first sentence but we can still miss them.
As for the second we have now lost Dan and Sekani with no obvious replacement coming in at RB. Indeed there is a distinct lack of genuine wide layers on either flank.
I am interested to see Batten perform in that position on Saturday unless there are last minute reinforcements.
