Interesting Chronicle article on the season so far...

I agree with most of that, especially our alarming lack of creativity in midfield against defensive opponents. Whatever he is bringing to the team with his very deep role, we are missing Artus in a more offensive position. And yes, we could feature in the play offs but I feel this will depend on a more reliable strike force than we've seen in the opening months of the season.
What do you think?

Yes good incisive points. Really like the almost daily Chronicle coverage we are getting. Committed and interested journalism. Clearly missing Frankies Artustry (!) In making this happen in the box. Given GOs constant football watching he must be looking to trade Fleetwood loan for a better return. Oh for a fox in the box.

Stuart Fleetwood is 30. He plays like he is 45.
GO must have been expecting more from him as he was his first signing. Watkins and McCootie have delivered exactly what they always deliver - a mediocre goal return.
Morgan is only going to score with decent service from the wings. But where is that coming from? There's not much point having him there if no one is pinging in decent crosses.
But we've said all this before.
Mid table will be about right unless Josh or Shaq or preferably both step up to the plate and make things happen.

Hopefully he'll get a decent run in the Weymouth side through the middle rather than on the wing. Wouldn't say no to Sam Jordan in return for a month

Seems like we signed two forwards who had scored 20+ in previous seasons but had lost their way. As I doubt we could afford the finished article, I think this is a sensible strategy on the basis that you would aim to coach and build confidence in both and hope that at least one reignited their form. Morgan has show signs but Fleetwood clearly has not and ends up in the vicious spiral of not warranting a starting place so unable to improve / get match fit / capture any form. A loan period which guarantees him 1st team football is his most sensible option. Morgan requires wide support and has not fired since Watkins and Hunter were out. MCootie is improving, has a great 2nd touch and gives more robust options but isn't ever going to be available 100% of the game(s).
Agree totally, that midfield currently lack the creativity to unlock defences. Need width (see above) + guile. Artus wasted as defensive. Hutchison needs to dominate more. Diallo needs greater consistency but seems to work well behind a front one / two. Chas would be my first choice as holding MF. Need Murphy to be more influential. Marshall needs games but certainly is not the 'enforcer' or 'general' character we lack in midfield who can take a game by the scruff of the neck and bring a team with him.
We have 3/4 decent CB's (although Batten seems distracted recently) and a lack of full backs. Bowman seems out of favour at FB since Poole and not sure Rigg is a full back really. Ball gets away with being left back usually and Manny is decent and Batten is good on his day.

Can't argue with any of that.
Hunter Watkins and Ball are obviously big misses.
