BCIR tomorrow...
...will not be on air as Bishop's Stortford continue their pathetic stance of not allowing outside broadcasts of their home games. Really sorry as I'd assumed their policies had changed, which would mean we could cover every game. I might email them later after I have simmered down to try and reason with them but can't see them changing their minds.

Re: BCIR tomorrow...
I presume they think if someone can't listen to the radio for free they will fork out £13 or £14 to go and stand on a terrace. Possibly there is someone out there that would do this but I can't see it making a great deal of difference to club finances myself.

I suppose it's equally unlikely that those who enjoy this service when we are away will decide instead to travel to Bish tomorrow, but just a reminder that there are seats available on the SC coach. And the more who travel, the cheaper the fare will be. Details here...

No, me neither. I think I'll be wasting my time emailing them as I'm sure others have tried and failed. Might bring it to the attention of the NLP at some point. I'll be intrigued into what'll happen if they have a big cup game and Alan Green turns up...
All very bizarre, not sure why some of these clubs feel the need to be awkward. I'll ask them at a later date for their reasoning. I'll see if we can be proactive on Matchchat instead. Not the same for those not being there but out of our hands. I'm sure it won't happen again this season.

That's a shame Mark, I was looking forward to listening in.
As another option you can log into the site below who give the goals as they happen in the South division.

Yes, they are so quick with reporting the goals that in the first half on Tuesday they reported us as 1-0 up, only to send a second message a few seconds later that it was still 0-0... agonizing at the time, and not the first time it's happened either, but I live in hope of going 1-0 down then receiving a 'reprieve' from Flashscores!daven wrote:That's a shame Mark, I was looking forward to listening in.

Re: BCIR tomorrow...
Bishop's Stortford stopped allowing radio because, when they were playing Chelmsford, they found out that Chelmsford were not encouraging their fans to go to a pretty local game, but, instead, were inviting their fans to the Chelmsford ground, where they were going to have the radio version on the loudspeakers.
It's quite possible that having radio commentary does stop some City fans coming to home games, particularly if the weather is bad, or if the opposition side is not attractive. That would mean us losing money.

Well that's made my mind up. I will travel on the coach to Stortford and stay in the Nags Head drinking McMullen ales and following the score on Flashscores........that'll show them!

It must be a Hertfordshire thing.

Fair play. They make a lot of valid points there. And of course the match is on BBC radio for anyone to listen to.yuffie wrote:It must be a Hertfordshire thing.

Re: BCIR tomorrow...
Possibly the most long winded, badly written piece I've read on the web this year! So are the BBC carrying whole match commentaries?

Re: BCIR tomorrow...
People who are going to the match who have the internet on their phones can always post updates on here for people who cannot go. There always used to be great camaraderie on here between a handful of fans who had logged in on here to follow a match and comment on what was going on for the benefit of fans who could not see it. They either celebrated or commiserated with each other.

The boreham wood v chester game is on bbc but not many matches are. I've just looked at the chester website and cannot see the diatribe Wood describe.
In fact Wood only make one point - that they own the broadcasting rights and if they want to charge for it they will. Which is fair enough.

Agree.
The comparison Boring Wood with Stortford is not the same as Chester broadcast is a business and BCIR is FREE.
If I had a video phone thingy I would be uploading to Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/232866411968/ - Twitter etc as much as possible.

So Chester banned from Boreham Wood and (Bob) Chester banned from Bishop's Stortford.
I commentated for Romans on Demand, which became a challenge in the second half when a stray clearance hit us in the gantry, knocking the teamsheet out of my hand.

Re: BCIR tomorrow...
From memory of a couple of seasons ago when we were playing boringham wood, I seem to remember that at that time they were not allowing us to have BCIR there. At that time (and now) we were not for profit....but they still banned us.
When we played at Their ground then, the crowd was only 200ish, with most of those attending our fans or members of the Boringham Wood owner's family and their hangers on......delusions of grandeur yet again at this level.

Yes, I think BW were the other club who prevented us having commentary. I think your 2nd memory might be another occasion (Junior will know!). A trip there had been postponed and was rearranged for midweek. However the following Saturday was free as both clubs had been knocked out of the cup/trophy - we wanted that but they insisted on the midweek as they had sponsors arranged.

The home fans in the stand opposite didn't have much to get excited about and I can assure you that incident raised the biggest cheer (not from me, of course!) I guess your commentary must have gone something like this...

To be fair to Boreham Wood, I think that was Braintree.

Boreham Wood definitely stopped us. Braintree stopped us filming and we're just awkward all round.
