Torquay friendly
Finished 4-4, with our goals coming from Rigg, McCootie and two from Josh Hutchinson.
We started with Fleetwood and Marvin up front, Nabby in the middle, Rigg on the wing and Bowman at right back. Marshall didn't play.
Sounded like a lively affair!

But it's only a completely irrelevant friendly Martin

Yes, you're right! I assume the Dorset branch of the supporters society was there last night.....

A great day. Spent a few hours in Babbacombe, walked around the Model Village, enjoyed an excellent seafood pie and treated to an unusually pulsating friendly. More away days like that, please.

Start and finish on a high. The middle bit was all about fitness!

Re: Torquay friendly
It was an interesting game. The Torquay supporters were really up for it. Very competitive from the stand in fact. Nicholson got a lot of support when leaving and entering the field from his supporters.
For our team, Fleetwood played as per everyone's comments so far on this forum. Continual complaining to other players when the ball wasn't played to where he wanted it. Both him and Morgan slow of the mark. Hopefully it'll click in Margate. For the second half we had Tyler Harvey's brother in goal again. Quite short, but loud!
At £1.25 per goal a good value game ;-)

Re: Torquay friendly
From what I have seen, read and heard Andy, Josh & Nick deserve a place in the starting eleven against Margate...so Stuart and Marvin would be on the bench.
The squad looks to be one of the strongest we have started the season with since the one that finished 2009/10...competition for places in midfield and up front.

Is that 18 signed on then? Plus maybe Dialling to come?

Does anyone know anything about Andrew Elcock? I think he's comes from the Plymouth youth setup but I can't find what position he plays

Re: Torquay friendly
Web site Stats page shows 17 signed on and yes I agree that it looks one of the strongest starting squads we have had for a while.
Id rather Fleetwood used the friendlies for fitness than scoring goals so lets see what happens when the real stuff starts.

Amen to that. I remember a few years back we made a marquee, season long contract signing of some guy with bags of 'league' experience. He promptly got injured in the first pre-season game, never recovered and we paid his wages for a whole season. Hopefully the club won't be making that mistake again.
Fleetwood is, hopefully wisely, just getting fit and staying out of trouble. Would I be right in assuming he would be out of pocket if he doesn't play? (Yes I know this applies to most others but he is the wrong side of 30 and will know recovery takes that much longer)

Chas Hemmings, Billy Murphy, Frankie Artus, George Rigg, Lee Marshall, Shaquille Hunter, Andrew Elcock
Andy Watkins, Josh Hutchinson, Nick McCootie, Marvin Morgan, Stuart Fleetwood

Re: Torquay friendly
My previous comment about not being able to see how Fleetwood could improve was in reference to his lack of movement. Not many people can get match fit by standing about.
No doubt he will explode into life in the first game and prove me wrong. Hat-trick here we come.

He moved round a fair bit Friday, just not with the ball. Hopefully it'll come good with team training.
