His fitness hasn't been 100% since he moved to us with his hamstrings. He is a 60 minute player tops. I used to think that he was lazy but it must be hard to push yourself to the extremes if, in the back of your mind, you know that your hamstrings could go at any time. I feel sorry for him on that score actually.

Mind you, that doesn't quite explain his terrible first touch. He is like me in that he can trap the ball further than most can pass it.

At the start of the season he looked much fitter and, given that a large part of his game is the physical side, if it is still a problem then it would explain a lot.

Or it could be a lack of man management ...

Yeah, I agree he did look a lot fitter at the start of the season and I had high hopes that we would see a whole season of him in the form he ended last season. Unfortunately not and I am pretty sure that is down to his hamstrings. I think he would be a brilliant impact substitute especially as we now have Pratt and Mohammed. He would scare the life out of tiring defenders. However, there is a school of thought that he is better starting and coming off after 60-75 minutes and the management certainly seem to be of that opinion. I don't think he can do 75 minutes. He always seems to be tiring on the hour if not before.

On a related note, at the risk of repeating something I have possibly said before on here, I was also hoping we would see the Chas that ended last season but, even though he appears a lot thinner, we haven't seen it and that is not to do with injury.

I thought Saturday was his best performance of the season to date, was like his top form of last season. More of that, please. Again I think he's had injury problems.

That's hopeful at least.
