Re: Community Share Offer to launch JUNE 2 with public event at Guildhall
Points West definitely said £60K (my mum texted me about it) but yes maybe that's pledges - we did not have a properly organised system for reporting total amounts in place ahead of the launch as we were so focused on the launch, I'm sure that will be put into place soon.
Steve White's Missus is quite right! I would vote for Nick 100% if he chooses to run for the Board but that will be a decision the members make at the end of next season when we hold our first elections.
There's a wider point there - someone of his experience would be a great asset to the club and I hope he does stand for election and get voted in. But this project will not succeed if we still have the mindset of "the men in blazers will sort our club out for us" - no matter how experienced and democratically accountable they are.
We need a platoon of supporters - probably about 30-40, at my guess - to join the working groups, stand for board positions, join street teams / matchday teams etc and influence how the community club develops.
Democracy is about much more than voting, and a few experts at the top will not turn everything around. This is really about community organisation and mobilisation.

Just on the question of reporting the current total - if there is more than one way to pay into the scheme, then the Microgenius website isn't going to reflect the total amount, unless there is some way of adjusting it manually to bring it in line. Is that possible or will it always be under-reporting the total? The concern is it might give people a false impression of the state of the bid.

Yes there is a way of adjusting it manually, that will probably start to happen on a weekly-ish basis soon.

Spot on about the community organisation and mobilisation, Oliver. When I was at a meeting last week, I was saying how we are trying to move away from decisions about football clubs made by white middle class middle aged blokes in backrooms. I then realised that I was saying this to a room full of predominately white middle class middle aged blokes.
Now that the Bid team has got the share offer over the line, it is just as much up to the sharebuyers and owners to get involved. I have been saying for ages, and Oliver reiterates this, that we need people's help, support, effort, experience, expertise, skills and ideas as much as, if not - in the long term - more than, the cash from people.
The only think I would disagree with Oliver on is that I want every single community member to want to "join the working groups, stand for board positions, join street teams / matchday teams etc and influence how the community club develops."
Now the shares are being bought, the responsibilities, decisions and strategy-making for the club needs to be delegated to a wider group of people than us who were involved in getting the Bid to here.
