Weston Super mare (A)
The sun has got its hats on, hip hip hip hooray! During game time the weather forecast is dry, temperature 7-5, feels like 5-3 degrees so surely the game is on? Although from past experience a late cancellation is always a possibility?

Not going. Blue skies and stuff here so must be in a bit of doubt.

I imagine it might be a bit sunny for them tonight.

It's absolutely gorgeous looking out of the office windows in Bristol, and yet I am still bracing myself for arriving at the station (or even the ground) to find out it is off. Once bitten, twice shy eh?

1 down. Diallo and McCootie for Bowman and Watkins who are on bench.

I'm glad Bob Chester has got the balance sorted on the microphones. It sounded like he was inside my head.

I always felt this would be a tough game. WSM are in a false position. But as you say Ashley contributed to our own downfall.

Why Ash? Walshy got sent off. Anyway, move on to Saturday and revenge on Concord please. The game up there was a true shocker.

I didn't go so can't comment on the performance, but Rich Burgess made a good point on the radio - we seem to be playing a lot of in-form teams in the moments. Even in the trophy we played two teams who were unbeaten in a while. Next two games are no different either.
Sounds like for the second game running a red card has changed the match.

I'm going to stop going to Weston, I haven't seen us win since Stuart Douglas scored, and the one game I didn't go to we won comfortably. I am a jinx.
Incredibly, frustrating game. I thought even when down to 10 we played well and could have scored a couple, but Jase's customary once every 4 game mistake cost us the lead. Fair play to Weston though, they do somehow always manage to create a decent enough footballing side.

Mellor howlers have cost us points this season. May be time to make a change?

He has also won us points this season and almost got us to Wembley single handed.
At this level we're never going to get a keeper that doesn't make mistake. I thought Weston's keeper looked shaky last night and he was selected for the England C squad.

5 mins before half time and we were cruising at 2-1. 5 minutes after half time we are losing 3-2 and down to 10 men. On the face of it, we were punished for 2 individual errors - Walsh's red card and Mellor's pass to their centre forward.
It doesn't change the result but there are other aspects to this game. 1) The ref was shocking throughout. Had very little grasp of the concept of 'advantage' (stopped Naby when 1 on 1) and Walsh was sent off in the 49th minute of the 1st half by my reckoning. NB. I don't recall the trainer coming on once and their were no substitutions. 2) We played the better football against a fairly talented if inconsistent side - even with 10 men. We had several good chances in the 2nd half but we always chasing it and sods law of football says that when you have a sustained period of pressure and don't score, the other team pops up the other end and scores. Couldn't see it clearly and haven't seen a video but I have a feeling that that went under Jason's body. Overall, we played some good football (I like Naby more and more) but had nothing to show for it.
Summary: Nil points from a game we probably should have won. No need to sack / drop players on that evidence.

Re: Weston Super mare (A)
After the very high standards Mellor set for himself at Ferriby, he doesn't need people on here to point out that he has been very poor at both Basingstoke and Weston. The 4th last night was a carbon copy of the 3rd last week - he should be doing better with well placed but relatively soft shots like those. The 3rd last night was always on the cards with his poor distribution. I still think he needs some competition for his place and it wouldn't do him harm for Barrington to start a couple of games.
