Where they get scrutinised even more for every single decision?

I've ran the line at Lansdown now and again if a team is short, meaning I'm a neutral so I haven't really had any abuse. Basically every time the referee has said I did well and I should look to get qualified. I wouldn't do it in a million years - the 10-15 times I've refereed a game (more often than not for my own team) I've probably only had three or four when I've come off and not had someone/some people in my ear for 90 minutes. Usually imbeciles that don't know the laws.

Is that for Tuesday nights too? Hardly worth giving up a day's work for £55.

I think it takes a certain type of personality to be an official - they must feed off the hassle they get off fans and players!

Crikey I was getting over £25 for County Cup Under 18 matches last year, plus mileage. Scaling seems odd.

perhaps they dream of becoming a premier league ref...... though I am with stillmanjnr - I still have recurring dreams/nightmares of running the line up lansdown; I think it was the abuse from your own team thats worse - eg when you don't give offside against the opponents because your own defender was a yard too slow but unable to grasp the awful truth!

I found that disappointing too, mind you it might give players extra incentive to try and reach the play-offs.
