City v Gloucester
Interesting line up. McCootie and Stearn on bench, Artus starts.

Raced to City bench and slid on his knees in front. Point made.

Well done City. Upped their game in extra time. Superbly struck 3rd goal from Stearn. He'll probably need to score a hat trick to get a start though.

Sat 13th or following day or thereabouts as Bristol City home on Sat.
St.Albans lost their replay 3-0 at Wealdstone tonight in poor display by all accounts, lets hope that form continues on Sat.

It's a strange one, this. I mean, it's not as if both clubs play within a minute of one another, could we not play at the same time? If Bristol City are home they're hardly going to turn up to the Mem, are they?

Plenty of comments on Rovers' forum saying the same thing. However the general opinion is that the police have a fixed view that the two sides will never be allowed to play at home simultaneously, despite the fact that Bristol City's visitors are Crawley who will most likely struggle to muster 100 fans.

Re: City v Gloucester
I wish we could have gone straight into extra time, because the last 30 minutes were far more entertaining than the previous 120. Glos looked a beaten side after Watkins excellent strike, but as usual we couldn't turn our possession into chances. Poor Mellor had a nightmare 15 minutes either side of ht and I feared he was going to lose it as happened at Thurrock, but he settled down after that.
A touch of luck about Stearn's first goal, which took a wicked deflection over the keeper, but his second was contender for goal of the season. And I didn't see his celebration as making a point, just one of euphoria. He needs a run of starting games now.

Inevitable defeat for us. No matter how well we might be playing we don't turn it into goals. The introduction of Stearn turned the game your way. Wish we had a winger like that.
I can't believe you still have that problem with w***ers up in that corner of the ground. Can I catch, one of them shouted at me.

Re: City v Gloucester
Bad luck tonight, Neil - I thought Glos were going to win it in the 2nd half as we continually lost possession. It needed a great goal to finally see you off but we'll have to play a hell of a lot better than that to have the slightest chance in the next round.
Hope you pull away from the foot of the table and that we'll soon be in the same league again - we need a decent local derby. Hopefully the next time we play you it will be back in Glos!

Re: City v Gloucester
As comrade says Ross scored a goal of the season contender and his celebration for both goals was appropriate, the second of them sliding into the arms of Chas Hemmings.
The game was not quite as bad as Sunday and extra time, when we started to play a bit of passing football, made up for the first 90 minutes of mostly head tennis.

So glad we won. Awful crowd, dire game won by. . . .Stearn surprisingl
His celebration will hardly endear him to those who hold a personal grudge. Though even the most bitter grudge holders can surely not leave our star man out now?!
What a goal! Bring on the gas

Re: City v Gloucester
I have my own views of the celebration but the main thing is we won tonight and have a genuinely exciting FA Trophy tie to look forward to now. Add to the fact that even if we lose at Rovers we should bank at least £10-15K in the competition which is massive given the current situation.
Hopefully, it will be on the Sunday and we'll travel in decent numbers, including those supporters who appear to have abandoned us. A decent performance/result and they might even come back to home games.
