Well . . . . what a dramatic end to our season !
A win at Twerton Park putting us in the Playoffs (barring a catastrophe)   .
We have our own  dramatic end to the season here too . . . . points go to ClareK but the ever optimistic Midsomer-Steve with his high prediction has won him 10 points which means that he has managed to pip PhilB1973 at the post and win the victor's crown in our competition for this year.
Congratulations Midsomer-Steve, you are this year's champion of Guess the Gate.

thanks chris for running the competition, well done to steve for winning. im pleased with my own performance as only started playing mid october. can't believe powell got 1 point.

Steve. I bet you regretted saying that when you saw the prices in the Aveley bar !!

We were all truly staggered by the bar prices - luckily, I suppose, I didn't bump into Paul that day. I'll get him a pint at a far more reasonable price at Twerton.

To conclude the Aveley debacle - I was told that all three pubs in the village were closed that day, so maybe they took a huge advantage by charging what they liked to a 'captive audience'.
Only one so called beer in their bar, and it was either American or Continental cr*p. Need to call on your good self to 'case the area' before we go there again. Surely those pubs will not be closed next time?

Only just seen this post. Thanks Steve T for kind offer. I didn't go to Aveley. Was a dead rubber. Was excited for Play offs a few days later. Braintree won them in the end. Fair play.
