non league day 2014
...is set for 6 September, as it's an international weekend, with no premiership or championship matches. This is the date of our home fixture with Whitehawk. There was a strong feeling that the impact of our last Community Day, with 'pay what you want' at the gate, was diluted by its lateness in the season, with occasionals and newbies only having a couple more matches to be enticed back. Even if it might be a bit late to be attracting schools, businesses etc, if there's to be an earlier 'pay what you want' initiative, it would make sense to hold it before the autumn/winter weather arrives.

Good idea Martin but I guess it's almost too soon to gear up for.

Re: non league day 2014
yes, agreed. to be fair to our club, ideas which are posted on here are read and i was contacted soon after. it was pointed out that sponsors were attracted to the chelmsford match last season and their support was necessary to cover any losses. but to repeat, i feel if the effort is made to have a 'pay what you want' fixture, it needs to be done early in the season to maximise its impact. following eastbourne's visit on 20 Sept, there are only 2 more definite home saturday fixtures in the next 3 months!

It may be soon, but the club should definitely do something to help attract people for non-league day.
It'sthe one time of year when the non-league game gets a proper look in.
