Farnborough 0 City 1
A spectacular strike by Alex Fletcher early in the 2nd half was enough to seal the points for City in a game they should have been out of sight with 3 or 4 great chances blocked on the line or narrowly going wide. The 1st half was a tame affair with neither keeper tested as Farnborough started the more livelier with City gradually getting more time on the ball but unable to find that killer through pass to open up an opportunity.
The 2nd half opened well with Wilson's seemingly miscontrol teeing up Fletch for a great strike into the roof of the net from the edge of the area. City took control and opened up Farnborough several times but brave blocks and crosses just evading players meant the home team were still in the game but had little to offer as cross after cross was met by the battling City rearguard which also included Batten who subbed for the injured Parcelle after a collision. Smith on for Spokes and Frear for the booked Wilson the other changes as City repelled Farnborough for the 96 minutes and enjoyed the ovation from the large travelling support which saw City rise to 5th in the table with a welcome clean sheet and a winning momentum for the Monday clash with Slough.

Thought we did well to repel Farnborough’s strong start and became stronger and stronger as the game progressed. A match which we would probably have lost last season - this team appears to have more resilience about it. And what a goal!
