The wait goes on
Sholing and Paulton Rovers drew 0-0 tonight in a fairly even game with few chances.
Sholing had a couple of lively players, Stuart Green and Bradley Targett (brother of Aston Villa's Matt). Green had a nice touch, although rather reliant on his right foot. Targett had some pace, could play on either wing, but not always composed on the ball. Alex Sawyer managed a couple of well hit shots, but failed to find the target.
Paulton's most creative player was Edward Butcher on the left wing. They also had an odd tactic of putting half the team into the six yard box when they had a corner. It was either that or grouping on the edge of the penalty area and charging into the six yard box.
Replay at Paulton next Tuesday.

Re: The wait goes on
I saw Butcher play for Street at the start of the year. Unfortunately his appearance wasn’t much longer than that Gosport sub last week - he came on and was soon wiped out by the keeper so came off again.
Quite surprised both teams didn’t agree to do extra time and penalties but Paulton presumably fancy their chances at home.

Re: The wait goes on
Butcher was at Bridport prior to Street and Paulton. Reminded me of the 'Whippet' only with better finishing.
Pace to burn and scored some great goals. Not surprised he got taken out by the keeper, there were a few occaisions at Bridport when he got clattered as that was the only way opposition could stop him.
Not great at 'tracking back' though. Always felt he'd do well at Southern League level at least.

Re: The wait goes on
Paulton have got a packed fixture list over the next week so let's hope for extra time in the reply, penalty win for Rovers and some tired legs at the Banes derby game on the 14th.

I've never really understood 0-0 draws in cup ties especially at this level. They should just say the game will continue until someone scores.

Re: The wait goes on
Paulton Rovers v Sholing postponed tonight, rearranged for Saturday, so the wait still goes on.
