Bancroft on his way still?
So, Somerset fans, should your club be employing the cheat this coming season?

I'll take that as a yes then!

Re: Bancroft on his way still?
I see Bancroft has received a 9 month ban but I'm not sure if that is only from Test cricket. However I can't see that Somerset will go ahead with his signing as it would surely alienate a large percentage of the membership. It does appear that Warner was the major player in the ball tampering episode. Not very surprising as he often comes across as a most obnoxious character.

This issue is an absolute tragedy. Stupidity at its highest as with all the cameras about it was almost certain to be spotted.
Will their team mates still want to play with them?
They are all highly talented cricketers and to not see them play is to deprive the public; as was the case with Kevin Pietersen.
I would have been content to hit them where it hurts by fining them for twelve months so that they could continue playing for say the living wage.
Is a world wide ban on them playing possible?
Could a "Kerry Packer" came along? It wouldn't surprise me
Is there a cricket club somewhere who will employ them? I expect there is.
The situation is fluid so would I employ Bancroft for Somerset? I would ask the team if they were prepared to play with him and depending on their opinion then put it to members if the players were prepared to accept him.

Presumably the players said 'no!'

Re: Bancroft on his way still?
Rehabilitation or retaliation? Someone has to look after the player. We all make mistakes. Somerset were damned whatever stance they took. On balance the attention and inevitable hostility would be too much this summer. But the self righteous and hypocritical attitudes of many in press and social media have been laughable.

Re: Bancroft on his way still?
I'm not sure how Somerset are damned by not bringing him over. As for rehabilitation, it's not English cricket's brief to provide employment for disgraced players banned by their own association. Yes, I'm sure many of the comments border on retaliation but frankly the Australians have had this coming for several years. Hopefully the game can now return to the back pages and sports reports - I can't stomach another wailing press conference with parents in tow...
